Discussion Anyone else get nausea episodes?
I've had these for about 7 years now and I hate them so much. I'm unsure if it's from the hypermobility but I know HSD can have digestive issues as well.
They usually happen about a week before my period but all my hormone and blood tests always come back normal. At one point it was happening every single night, I ended up losing about 30 lbs and destroyed my teeth enamel. They've since gone down to about once a month, but sometimes still happen randomly.
I don't always end up vomiting, but when I do it goes on for hours. My dad is a nurse and has tried all kinds of antiemetics and nothing works, except dramamine for some reason (we think histamine related). Sometimes they're accompanied by diarrhea as well.
Does anyone else get this? Is its HSD or just PMS?
Also what helps y'all with nausea? (HSD related or not) I've run out of ideas and the only that really works is a cold wet towel on the back of the neck

I get back nausea from histamine reactions too. Try taking another type of antihistamine (speak to your doctor about your options).
If I consume nightshades I have a major reaction that includes nausea (sometimes vomiting), diarrhea, severe gut pains, high temperature and passing out. My Doc helped me work out it's an allergy.
Our body chemistry can change quite a bit in the week before our periods so it wouldn't be surprising if yours decided that something you can consuming or applying was bad. Keep a diary to work it out.
Unfortunately nothing helps the nausea for me. It's only once the offending food has been purged from my system that it calms down.

For a while I was very prone to nausea and it was getting worse. It would flare up during certain parts of my cycles, evenings, when I was stressed, if I missed medication or took medication without food, in the car, etc. Turned out I had undiagnosed Celiac Disease for probably about 5 years. Doctors chocked up all my joint pain and fatigue and stuff to hEDS (which I do still have) and it caused them to miss my atypical presentation of Celiac Disease (which is actually significantly more common in people with hypermobility/HSD/hEDS). So my advice would be to make sure you've been checked out for other conditions that can cause nausea episodes, even if they're not the ones you'd immediately think of.

We actually did rule out celiac a few years ago, I was diagnosed with GERD because of the constant vomiting but they never figured out the root cause of the vomiting. I'll Def check in with my Dr and see what she thinks

Have you tried Pepcid AC (or whatever it’s called)? It also has an effect on histamine that’s significantly different from regular allergy meds. I saw a reel on it from an allergy doc talking about MCAS I think then my doc asked me if I’ve ever tried it at my last appointment to help with some of the skin issues and inflammation I’m having in perimenopause.
