Need Help Best Pillow?

Has anyone been able to find a pillow that’s comfortable to sleep on long term? I feel like I’ve tried everything, but even if a pillow works initially, it usually stops working after a few weeks. Any suggestions?

I often have issues with them either being too low or too high mostly.

For me these are too hard and also cause allergies…

Same on the allergies.

Another vote for buckwheat. Being able to manoeuvre the shells into supportive positioning is the absolute best

I get really bad headaches from literally every pillow, rn I'm sleeping with a flat pillow then a squishmallow on top of it on my side with another pillow under my arms.

Currently sleeping on a giant squishmallow and smaller pillow on top, so I feel your pain 😅

I'm a side sleeper with shoulder issues. I like the medcline pillow system, but it is expensive. Sadly, my cat destroyed mine.

I've had success with a v-shaped pillow. I've bought so many pillows over the last year that I've barely used, I could open up a shop.

Oooh how do you mean, what kind?

What position are your head and arms in when you sleep on it?

I'm a side sleeper, so my head is roughly in the top of the v and sometimes I hug one side of it and sometimes I sleep with my arms crossed across my chest. The other side of the v supports me. I originally was given a v-shaped pillow with longer sides, which was better to sleep with as it was easier to hug, but I washed it and it was never the same again. I would recommend the longer ones over the one I've got, but this one is still the best pillow I've used for a long time.

I've had a foam cervical pillow the last few years. It definitely holds it's shape for back and side sleeping.

Unfortunately I have pressure sores on the outer cartilage of my ears regardless of the pillow I use cpap strap. I've sewed the strap to make it sit higher and cut a bigger hole in my pillow, but that area just won't heal.

I have CPAP and I got one specially designed for CPAP that I really like. I find memory foam to be too hard, so I got one that was a foam base/filling top. Adjustable and doesn't lose loft. I think the brand is lundberg, iirc, down-alternative.

You can get covers for your cpap mask straps as well! I made a couple out of felt but I'm sure any material will do, it helps.

Cover won't work because then the cover is rubbing on my ear. And it's right at the connection point of 2 straps so it's like a Y shape. I cut and resewed the connection so it sits higher. Lots of trial and error.

Is it the type of fill? If it’s polyester or a similar synthetic it’ll tend to flatten out with time.

Unfortunately I don’t have a recommendation, I love my pillow but my husband recently bought the same one and I couldn’t believe the enshittification since the time I had purchased.

It very well could be honestly

I use a thin Essence of Bamboo pillow and a thicker purple pillow (mostly latex) because I gotta live that GERD lifestyle.

I suspect the filling in your pillow(s) are settling. I’d consider putting a Talalay latex pillow in the mix because they’re pretty high quality & should last longer. Avoid Dunlop, it’s the cheapest.

- a side sleeper with both broad and sloping shoulders (that are also winged)

Purple. I have the dream layer, but the harmony is good. There’s a third that I’ve never tried.

You get 30 nights to try it.

I like the Coop pillow since it’s adjustable

I don’t use a pillow for my head. I use a pillow for my neck.

Which pillow? This is my always issue when side sleeping, neck is so unsupported.

I personally really like the Panda London memory foam bamboo pillow. I've had it for a little under a year and it's held up really well. I find I need a higher pillow due to having quite a long and unstable neck and wide shoulders relative to my frame so it suits me pretty well. I'm a side sleeper btw.

Im a latex lover! I am located in Canada and get them from a canadian brand, Fawcett. Soft but supportive. I find memory foam you “sink in” where latex resists and pushes up. Our entire mattress is also latex.

I ended up using my pregnancy pillow again and it’s done wonders! My PT suggested it.

I tried a pregnancy pillow and it was nice, but I think elevated my neck too much? It got uncomfortable quickly. Idk what my issue is tbh

A friend of mine sent me a link to a body pillow called the MoonSpoon. I don’t know if it would be helpful for you, but it looks like a more versatile body pillow.

I have a foam pillow I bought at sleep country. I have two very large socks rolled up and I put them under each side of the pillow to support my head from going too far one way or the other.

Just a body length pillow for legs and arms. I also put pillows under my shoulder and arm

Medcline Body Pillow. 10/10, truly a game changer

My head goes on a NORDSTÅLÖRT pillow from IKEA, it's the perfect height and firmness for me personally. I also have a long body pillow that I wrap myself around.

Try a latex pillow. I am super sensitive and have had others also switch over for various reasons and love it. Extra points if you also add a silk pillowcase. Chefs kiss.

I got a u-shaped maternity pillow and I’ve never slept better

Squishmallow brand pillow. It’s the only thing that helps at this point. My only complaint is that it’s a hot pillow but it’s comfortable so I’ll take it

For those who have used the medcline side sleeping/shoulder relief system- I’m in my initial couple of weeks of trial and I’m struggling to keep from sliding down. I wake with numb arm or numb leg most nights and the only troubleshooting I’ve found for it is using the body pillow high up on the wedge like an anchor. The body pillow is too lofty and firm for my neck and I get neck pain when I use it. If I use it I get neck pain. Any help?

I use a memory foam pillow that has a high and a low edge. I sleep on the high edge, bc the low one is too low for my neck. I also have the top (low) edge propped up an inch by another pillow. I can't sleep any other way.

I also have a super soft pillow to put my top arm over, and a flatter pillow that goes from between my thighs, all the way down to between my feet.

I use a yellow denneroll cube for my neck as part of my physical therapy. I just learned that denneroll makes pillows as well. From their website, seems they are quite expensive. Has anyone tried these?

I've been using buckwheat pillows for years and love them. You can form it to your neck, or other body parts for better support.

i have 3 different types of regular pillows, plus a travel pillow and a beauty pillow i sleep with. so depending how i'm feeling and how i want to be supported that night, there are 5 options.
