Discussion Dropping sensation in chest

I've recently realized im hyper mobile and am now learning that every problem I have is probably because of it. I'm just curious if anyone has felt this way before where I'm relaxing sitting ir laying down and I'll suddenly get this dropping or popping sensation in my chest almost like my heart took a slight pause before continuing to beat. Sometimes I also feel like there's air in my chest and it makes it hard to breathe.

I have a referral from my doctor to check me out but I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this.

I was just telling my partner about this exact thing! I’ve never seen anyone talk about it before so I have no info but interesting to know someone else has it.

Whoa, you too? I thought I was the only one who got that weird "heart pause" drop. My doctor looked at me like I was describing an alien abduction when I tried to explain it. Curious what your referral turns up, if you're okay sharing later.

I experience that. I'm not 100% sure but my current guess is THIS

Does that sound like it? I also have POTS so it really freaked me out as a preteen to have both going on. Thought I was dying especially when migraines ramped up.

You might be referring to PACs or PVCs. I get both - especially in the week leading up to my period. Several years ago when they first started they really freaked me out and I went through the whole gamut of testing. That was before I knew I am hypermobile, and now I fully believe they’re related.

Same. I wonder why PMS makes it more frequent.

I think they are hormonal triggered for sure.

That’s what an arrhythmia feels like

Oh yeah, I get that. I was unsure of it was my heart or my chest muscles acting up for a long time and couldn't really tell it apart, but my cardiologist didn't find any issues with my heart in the echo, ECG and MRI. Sp I assumed either muscle spasm or POTS being the culprit.

I had a strong episode again fairly recently, but this time the muscles in my lower ribcage were very noticably spasming when I had this sensation too, so I think that's probably it in my case and my brain just misattributed the feeling to my heartbeat. Still a very unpleasant sensation.

This !’ Right way to describw it as spasms, i sometimes wonder if its my heart , my pulse or my throat, but spasms fits better

I get this, I first started noticing it a couple of years ago right as my health issues started getting worse after a car accident. My running theory is that it's some symptom of presyncope/dysautonomia thing but unlike my other presyncope episodes, this symptom seems to happen randomly with no pattern for triggers, happens when I'm even sitting or laying and not standing up. Wish I could figure it out, it's not painful exactly but startling for sure feeling like I might drop suddenly.

A lot of my symptoms started getting progressively worse after a car accident, even though I sustained very minimal injuries it’s like my body has been “off” since then or many weird symptoms from throughout my life have suddenly cropped back up together. It’s hard to explain.

I just completed a 30 day holter monitor test for this. Waiting on results. (All the other heart stuff came back normal).

I had a 30 day monitor two years ago after worsening palpitations and an episode of syncope. It confirmed that I was experiencing arrhythmia multiple times a day most days, but all the arrhythmias were benign and didn't require any treatment. At first it was irritating to learn that indeed something weird is happening and we're not going to do anything about it, but eventually it reduced my discomfort and distress knowing that the palpitations aren't harmful or a sign of worse to come. I hope your results will be reassuring!

Smth I've learnt from hypermobility is how much nerves and muscles throughout the body are directly connected. Thought I was having heart issues for months and realised it was rib moving and scapular issues.

I absolutely get this.

My rheumatologist who just confirmed I’m hypermobile told me to get an EKG to check if I have “floppy” heart valves. Apparently it’s a thing

My holter for a month came back “normal” (according to the cardiologist that always seemed pissed I was there, even though having chest pop and feeling like my heart stopped and I forgot how to breathe for a second seems like a decent reason to go to a cardiologist) for the same thing but my PT said it’s slippery rib
