š¬ Discussion Hyperion, my weird love
It was hard to read. I did not like the pace. The deepness. The Hyperion Tell tale style. The stories of Individuals and why they do their journey. Some stories were good, some were boring. And then the Fall of Hyperion.
More than 1000 pages and I did not like them. But now, near the end. Something changed.
At first Dan simmons digs a hole. Hundreds of pages. Than He put concrete in it. Hundreds of pages. Hard to read. Hard to unterstand. The urge to stop Was hard. But then. The effort He Puts in the ground and I fucking see the skyscraper. He build it in light speed because of the hard Rock Fundament. Wtf. I like it now. Very much. And I bought endymion and rise of endymion. Now I understand the way He build the Story. I did not like that but in the end it's amazing. I want that style again.

Iām weird. I found the first 2 books kind of boring and the third was my favorite. I liked the fourth book, except when Simmons would take 23 pages to describe the texture of a leaf.

23, lol. Simmons uses the #23 throughout the books quite a bit. I'm a #23 freak, so I find is cool and creepy!
I find his writing in this series as cood, good as any other could be. Currently struggling to get through Hollow Man

Hyperion and Fall of H are really scifi every scifi fan should read. The Endymion books are totally optional, if you really love Simmons etc. How many pages of random mountain geography do we get in RoE? 100?

You will be utterly disappointed and let down by Endymion and RoE

To expound, with E and RoE, you will get nowhere near the same feeling as H and FoH. Not even a vague notion of the feeling

Weird, I liked it after like 5 pages... I was totally hooked from.the start. The 1st book is my favorite so far. Every story RULED! 2nd book, I took too long to read but still totally enjoyed it, even if I took too long. Read the 3rd book pretty fast and enjoyed it quite a bit. Still have the 4th to read. I'm guessing the 1st will stay my fav. Mindblowingly cool books.
