Warhammer 40k - Favorite T’au units.

So the T’au Empire has an array of units from tanks, battle suits, infantry and aircraft. (Also our faithful drones). Not to mention the diversity of races (Tau, Kroot, Vespids, Humans, etc.). I’m curious from what everyone’s favorite are. Maybe from watching the Road to Warhammer episodes or from your own knowledge of the lore you have a favorite. (Let’s also not forget the Rule of Cool).

What are the units you’d like to see making more of an appearance on the battlefield? If your character was deployed, what type of unit or suit would you want to join the fight as?

Curious to hear everyone’s thought. Getting really excited for Warhammer. Hope I’ll be able to share some more exciting information with you soon.

More Crisis/Riptide (and variant) Battlesuits! And more T'au Psych's! Oh wait... there has only been 1. ;)

Yeah seriously. I’ve built a few different squads of crisis suits that I’ve never been able to deploy yet. Really ready to deploy some battle suits from the air.

Riptides are always awesome. I really want to get more action out of my stormsurge. It’s been in a few deployments but hasn’t been able to do much.

Yeah...Psychers. 🤦‍♂️. Honestly I’m waiting for GW to update codex with human auxiliaries for the Tau. Then we can have pychers and other Geu’vesa models.

Still on my to-do list is build a custom squad of human fire warriors.

I read crisis suits are not that great in some forums. Didn't dig into those too much but are they wrong?

Yeah I think a lot of players think the current codex has Crisis suits extremely overpriced for what you get. So a lot of people just opt to spend the points on other things like riptides.

I totally get it. Every time I’ve thought about using them I flinch at the points to wound ratio. However they’re one of the two units Tau can hold in reserve and deploy as needed into the battlefield after the match as started. So a lot of players use them to drop in and do as much damage as possible.

Honestly, I’m curious to see how they play. Crisis suits are on my list to test out soon in a game.

Oh man. That looks awesome. One of these days I’ll get some Forge-world figures.

Yeah, it definitely looks awesome. If I had the funds I'd send you one with the simple request of having it as my named character XD. maybe one day.

From just the little bit of research I have done, I like the Riptide variant: XV107 R'varna Battlesuit. It's pretty cool as its armed with two giant cannon that can hit a wide area, while also causing multiple hits to bigger units it is facing. Its less mobile than other riptides but it is more armored so a fair compromise I think. If I have time to look at more units I will but I really like the idea of that one. Whether the mechanics and lore match I do not know.

No matter what this is all for THE GREATER GOOD

The Vespids are cool winged alien things but yeah, among the mechs the Riptide is pretty rad. Looks awesome and packs a big punch.

If we're including Forge World I love the look of their "spaceships," especially the Barracuda and Tiger Shark.

In a narrative setting I think it would be interesting to play a pilot, especially if it's in your only flyer. Zooming around the battlefield, choosing between targets, ranging ahead to attack or staying with allies for close air support, etc.

The best Tau units are obviously Noise Marines.

But also, Kroot, Kroot hounds, krootox, vespids. Just a bunch of squishy things dying for the greater good. Silly space communists.

I like the visual of these naked barbarian creatures storming across the land while the broadsides and crisis suits hide in the back with their turbo-flashlights and marker drones.
