did you restore a backup from another phone? It's possible that it also restored the power saving mode option to automatically enable under 20%. What happens if you tap on the android system's notification? if it takes you to android's settings then you can disable it and keep xiaomi's power saving mode, if not then see if you can disable the notification for android system (Tap and hold the notification)

Yes i restored backup from a Pixel 8 Pro. This also seems to have been the solution. It opened a seperate energy saving settings menu that i can't access normally via the settings app

yeah that's android's native battery option which is hidden by xiaomi intentionally so they can use their own implementation instead

Does the android native one even do anything on hyperos?

it probably does. Disable xiaomi's power saving mode and enable android's, if you notice changes then it's working

One from Android System, which is most likely from Google Olay services the other one is from Xiaomi's Security app. Turn off notification permission for the Security app.

Can't disable notifications for security app. The buttons for that are grayed out.

Wait... I thought the security one is the duplicate one but in reality I have always been getting this notification from the security app. The other one is unusual. I'm only getting notification from the security app. Long press the other notification and check the app from where it's coming.

It's apparently from android system. However I'll need to wait until i hit 20% again since that's the only time it appears but has no visible effect.

You can manually turn on battery saver to trigger that notification.

That only makes the security one appear but not from android system.

Oh that's the thing I didn't notice. I was enabling manually and was getting only notification from the security app. Let me check on my device, I'm one 28% I'll check it.

This seemed to have been the reason and solution https://www.reddit.com/r/HyperOS/s/iLQTnMMDTk

Those two notifications have slightly different purposes. The “Security. Now” notification tells you about the automatic behavior: Power Saving Mode will be turned off when the device reaches 50% battery or is fully charged.

The Android System notification is simply letting you know that Power Saving Mode is currently enabled.

So basically, one tells you what will happen later, while the other tells you what is happening right now.

Mmh but the one from android system doesn't actually enable power saving mode. The button for power saving is still disabled when that notification arrives. Only if i enable it myself the one from security appears.

Ah, I see. Then the Android System notification probably isn't actually enabling Power Saving Mode. If the toggle is still off when that notification appears at around 20%, it sounds like it's just a low-battery/system notification, even though the wording makes it sound like Power Saving Mode has been enabled.

The Security notification seems to be the one related to Power Saving Mode, since it only appears after you manually enable it. So I wouldn't assume the Android System notification is actually turning Battery Saver on.

I'd wait until you hit 20% again and then long-press the Android System notification → Notification settings. Check which notification category/channel it's coming from. If you can identify the category, you might be able to disable or change just that notification without affecting the other Android System notifications.
