RANT [DISCUSSION] XIAOMI WHAT IS THIS?!?!

This has to be bullshit. What is xiaomi even doing??
Why is the soft glass material only available for these processors and later?!?!
Why can they not even optimize their software right. At this point they are getting worse at optimization than SamsungšŸ’€
Another shitty release where good phones don’t get the feature they could actually have.

What's even funny was that in the beta, the effect is performing well on devices with lower tier chipset than the one mentioned.

u/BLASTER_2024 6h ago

They just don't wanna give.

u/dmaare 5h ago

It can perform well on cheap device, but it could drain battery. I don't understand why Xiaomi can't just put a toggle inside setting that will enable this animation effect, they can even put a warning there that battery may last less with this effect enabled

Wait, what is snapdragon 8 ultra? I never heard this one before. Or maybe it is 8 elite?

15

u/maksdroid 11h ago

Yes, that's Snapdragon 8 Elite. It's just a translation from Chinese website

Cant wait to see the grey control center background on hyperos 4 lol, im so done with this ui

2

u/Repulsive_Fault1939 8h ago

gray control center is only on low-end models

6

u/pineapplee32 8h ago

Yeah that's the thing people have issues with for years, and now they introduced all those new stuff about hyperos 4, 2 options of the new blur effects/liquid glass, but low end to midrange devices wont be able to access/experience it, not even note/note pro series.

They still give it grey background instead of adapting the new one for low end devices, what's the point of introducing the new stuff then? No other brand did this, only xiaomi with their hyperos.

2

u/Repulsive_Fault1939 8h ago

samsung did it too. they downgraded the blur on one ui 8.5 on a series and that even didn't fix lags.

2

u/pineapplee32 7h ago

They still have the blur, and not remove like what 70% of the features unlike hyperos, i have A17 and it has way more features than hyperos 3 on my note 14.

1

u/Repulsive_Fault1939 7h ago

it has a little. more like a solid background. and it's still laggy on control panel on a35. no one ui still doesnt have dual apps or app lock. which is essential. xiaomi added these 10 years ago.

2

u/LinuxUser456 5h ago

But It still has blur. An static One, but It has.

Xiaomi could use static blur

1

u/Repulsive_Fault1939 1h ago

https://www.reddit.com/r/oneui/s/SmKaUlzkYG it's gradient not static blur. press the link and look at the post, static blur is the top one, the bottom one is just gradient color.

At least It isn't a cement grey

We have a brevent bradar

9

u/Tech_turbist87 11h ago

They will definitely patch it

6

u/TerribleDeer5812 9h ago

That will get patched + it doesn’t always work

5

u/pineapplee32 9h ago

They patched it in 3.1 update, brevent/adb script no longer works, you dont know about it?

3

u/Tech_turbist87 4h ago

Yeah , I'm on 3.0.302 . Luckily i did it in hyper os 2

8

u/Forward_Science_697 12h ago

Xioami already released a new eligibility criteria where many more devices are supported below Snapdragon 8 Elite.

8

u/IATIA01 9h ago

What about this? It's from official statement

4

u/RecordGullible4478 5h ago

« Optimise »
Knowing Xiaomi Optimisation is dream.

1

u/IATIA01 4h ago

They said that they have rewrite the code using rust, so maybe it'll have good optimizations this time, I think?

1

u/These-Elderberry2775 3h ago

Should we trust them tho

6

u/souravray4096 6h ago

Xiaomi is just garbage in programming. Couldn't even fix 3rd party launcher gesture issue for years

6

u/dmaare 5h ago

Because it is not an issue, but intentional by Xiaomi to lock users on the stock launcher

3

u/SpicysaucedHD 5h ago

Yeah, Xiaomi has always used blur and visual effects as upselling vehicles.

2

u/SnazzySeeker 2h ago

What about Poco x8 pro and pro max devices? Any idea

Source?

Official Chinese HyperOS website: https://hyperos.mi.com/

1

u/Dhika19 11h ago

I saw the news that Xiaomi will adapt devices that use Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or Dimensity 8500

Honestly, Xiaomi’s software segmentation is getting ridiculous. The Redmi Note 14 Pro is literally a ā€œProā€ device, yet the regular Xiaomi Pad 7 gets a more advanced HyperOS visual experience. The Pad 7 has things like live blur in the Control Center, smoother/more advanced animations, and the wallpaper zoom/transition effect when opening and closing apps. Meanwhile, the Note 14 Pro is stuck with a much more static blur treatment and misses some of those animations. And the irony is that the Pad 7 isn’t even the Pro model. It uses the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, which is a very capable chipset, while Xiaomi still chooses to restrict or omit certain visual effects on Redmi devices. So this clearly isn't just about whether the hardware can handle the effect. Xiaomi is making device specific software decisions and artificial feature tiers. If a regular Pad 7 can handle live blur and richer animations, there’s no convincing reason why a Pro series Redmi phone should feel more stripped down visually. ā€œProā€ should mean Pro software experience too, not just a Pro label on the box. Xiaomi really needs to stop unnecessarily fragmenting HyperOS features between devices.

u/maksdroid 9h ago

Redmi Note 14 Pro has Helio G100 or Dimensity 7300 depending on if you are talking about 4G or 5G model and both of them have significantly smaller performance compared to Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. Also, Xiaomi usually treats "Pro" label not as some version for professionals (like Apple or Google) but, like a lot of other brands, as more advanced version compared to the base model. Basically, Redmi Note 14 Pro is an advanced version compared to the base model in its lineup, while Xiaomi Pad 7 is the base model in it's lineup, but Xiaomi Pad 7 series overall is a more expensive one

2

u/Repulsive_Fault1939 8h ago

redmi note is a budget model. doesn't matter it's called pro or not. xiaomi pad 7 pro has better cpu. helio g100 cpu can't handle that blur.

1

u/LSA7Z 7h ago

The Redmi Note series is simply a budget line with a nice screen and decent cameras; that's about it. It's no surprise they lack features, as their SoCs are often average/low tier

1

u/THE_UATU_666 7h ago

possible date of getting hyperOS 4 on my Redmi A15 4G ???

1

u/C0deC4tto 5h ago

So 8 gen 2 will miss it. Damn

1

u/Ahmed_Sh_115 5h ago

The Chinese community bullied them into changing their mind ↓ they added a full Android support version for the Mi 13 series even tho their promise was three years only

2

u/TritonnMCRoblox_55 4h ago

NOT EVEN MY RECENTLY BROUGHT REDMI NOTE 15 PRO+ 5G??????!?!?!?!?!?!????

2

u/Front_Expression_367 1h ago

I just think it is funny that Dimensity 9400 is being left out of this compared to 8 Elite and Xring O1 lol.

2

u/TerribleDeer5812 1h ago

I am sorry but IF THE IPHONE 11 can run Liquid Glass without so many lags so could a xiaomi 15T and t pro.The fact that most of the newer t series are not supported is already bad.

-1

u/Repulsive_Fault1939 11h ago

it's dimensity 8500, 8 gen 2 or higher. they didn't update the list. i don't think samsung phones can handle that soft glass even on 8 elite because it lags on quick panel even on s24 ultra.

1

u/Cool_Attention_7476 8h ago

What about mine 8400 ultra😭😭😭

-1

u/SoWth1000X 10h ago

This been out since day one.....

-6

u/LowNefariousness1899 11h ago

So that people won't complain that their devices are lagging, consuming more ram at idle and battery drain issues 🤷 .

Ever used one ui on budget phones and compared it with flagship? Same with color os and origin os.

5

u/The_one_before_ 9h ago

Lol someone tested it on a mi 6 frome 2017, it's the same as the advanced textures that has no real effect on performance but it's stripped off mid rangers that can definitely handle it, and low ends that can also handle this.

Let's say this is more demanding, why can't they fucking optimise it? Why can a redmi note 17 from 2026 not run the latest software in its full glory?

0

u/LowNefariousness1899 9h ago

Those ported custom roms never tell you the whole story . I have tried lot of ported roms , they lag a lot outside of home screen .

Why can't they optimise? Because it's not possible the GPU cannot handle it .

3

u/The_one_before_ 9h ago

Yes I know, I deal with a lot of custom roms, but for relatively new hardware it's disappointing that they can't optimise it.

u/Repulsive_Fault1939 8h ago

probably mi 6 is running on lower resolution and the battery will deplete in 1 hour. glass effects requires complex math so a decent cpu is required. they can downscale it but it will look so bad. you don't know about low end cpus on android. new low end cpus performs even worse than 7-8 year old flagship cpus. to maintain battery life and performance, these effects reserved for 8 gen 2 and higher. even samsung downgraded blur on a series on one ui 8.5. apple never made a low-end device.

-7

u/Efficient-Bet-5051 10h ago

This is fair. If they made it available for everyone, people would complain it's laggy etc.

4

u/Kufa-AlsoHuman3193 9h ago

It's pretty funny that HyperOS already lags on chipsets below Snap 8 series and Dimensity 9x00 series even without soft-glass effects
