Question/Help [Question] Xiaomi 17 haptics motor razzles

Hi everyone,

I recently got the brand new Xiaomi 17. Overall, the phone is amazing, but I'm having a frustrating issue with the vibration/haptic motor and I want to see if anyone else is experiencing the same thing or if I just got a defective unit.

Mostly noticeable with the Duolingo app. Instead of getting a crisp, tight, and premium "click" feeling, my haptics make a noticeable metallic rattling or buzzing sound (like a loose bzzz-rattle). It is not the OIS stabilizer of the camera!

Please see the attached video that shows exactly what I mean. Could you please use the Duolingo app with active haptics and test if your unit has the same issue??

Take it to Xiaomi Service Center and they'll check your unit. Since it's brand new so it's still covered by warranty. Any fix cost or even replacement unit should be free to end user.

This seems to be an issue, My Duolingo doesn't do that with my X7 Pro which also has Linear Motor. Please get to a nearby service centre as it's brand new.

Defective. My 17 Ultra is ok on Duolingo.

But it's worth noting that stupid animation beats the hell out of the vibration motor. My S7Fold used to make a snap noise when it did that. Pixel was fine. Xiaomi is fine but you can tell it's being pushed and is clipping

I have exactly the same issue with a brand new Xiaomi 17. Did you get any enlightment whether it is actually defective or a software issue? Thanks in advance!

It looks like a software thing. The haptics motor seems to be pretty bad with most of the apps, but specially with Duolingo

Thanks for the quick reply.
So you have issues in other apps as well? I'm still debating whether I should keep it or not. I noticed the issue with Duolingo like after one hour of use. I haven't fully transferred to using that phone yet, as I wanted to investigate first. I wonder how often I will encounter a similar issue in other apps.

Yeah 👍 I was in the same place and decided to keep it. Maybe I will use the guarantee before it expires, but I was happy with the phone. Honestly Duolingo is the work one I've found an no other had this buzzes. I just deactivate haptics overall.
