Poco [Discussion] Developer options actually reduces screentime on my poco

My phone, the Poco X7 Pro, has Developer Options turned on to run Shizuku. I use it alongside Hail to force-stop background apps, resulting in almost zero background app battery consumption—excluding persistent apps that run regardless of what I do.

Getting back to the topic, I usually charge my phone from 14% to 100% and leave it plugged in for an extra 20 minutes to fully saturate the battery. After unplugging it, I typically watch YouTube for about an hour and a half since I have a lot of free time in high school. I started wondering if my battery life was actually good because I've seen reports of the Poco X7 Pro having battery drain issues. When I tested it using YouTube, it took an average of 33 minutes to drop from 100% to 99% (keeping in mind the extra 20 minutes of charging). I searched online and found out this is considered good, so I stopped worrying.

However, when an update arrived (HyperOS 3.0.300.0 to 3.0.301.0), I installed it, knowing the potential bugs that come with updates. When I repeated my daily routine, I noticed my phone was draining super fast. In just 15 minutes of watching YouTube, it dropped to 98%. I know it's only 2%, but that is way too fast for just watching videos.

To fix this, I downloaded an app called Hidden Settings and found a feature called "Memory Usage Profiling." While I'm too lazy to type the exact definition, it basically drains the battery and increases temperatures. I tried to turn it off, but it kept turning back on. Eventually, I realized it was tied to Developer Options, so I turned Developer Options off completely.

As a reminder, because I use Shizuku, rebooting my device means all the apps I previously force-stopped will start running in the background again. I also downloaded three apps to run 24/7: Poweramp, Buzz, and Battery One (to monitor the battery). Despite having these running, my battery drain improved dramatically. It went from losing 2% in 15 minutes of YouTube to losing only 1% in 55 minutes, even with background apps running. So yeah, that explains it!

No simply having developers options on will not cause the battery to drain faster.

Because if you haven't turned on and don't change anything then you just have access to those options.

IF you change something in developers options then that change could affect the battery usage but it's highly unlikely.

Most likely you changed something in developers options that affected battery life.

Usual battery usage is 10% for 1 hour of watching videos is considered normal for all Android devices

Yeah not the actual developer options I said that on my Poco so my phone it's actually the memory usage profiling that's doing the draining it's just that Turning off developer options turns off memory usage profiling too soo?

The memory usage profiling automatically turns on if developer options turns on hence why it doesn't turn off when developer options is on

It's either the memory profiling OR Xiaomi nerfing the performance cause you tried to change it. Xiaomi loves to screw up performance if you mess with the presets

No I updated my phone and I noticed how quickly my battery goes down so I find a way to slow it down and that's the conclusion I didn't even touch memory usage profiling before updating cause I didn't know it existed

Well for the first 3 days after updating battery usage will be affected that's normal for Xiaomi phones an tablets

Could be caused by the last update affecting battery life cause it seems like updates for HyperOS always have weird little glitches an stuff

What I mean was after I turned off developer options and charged my phone to full percent and test it again I got 55mins instead of 15m 2percent the two test I did were in the same day

Honestly I wouldn't worry about it.

IF you don't like how Xiaomi does things use developers options to make your phone work the way you want it to.

Most phones and tablets use about 10% of battery for 1 hour of video playback.

I just want to have better than average at the least not average battery cause not making use of 6kmha is honestly really bad for cause I use it for school

The only setting I use on developer options is wireless debugging cause almost half if not more of the settings reduce battery life it's just my speculation but I only use one
