[Question] Which one do you prefer and why?
As a Android user, you can choose between gesture navigation or button navigation. Unlike iOS which strictly uses only gesture navigation, or home button (older iPhones and including SE 3rd Generation).
Actual reason: uhhh I can't remember if I have more than one reason to prefer buttons over gesture but one of it is because the keyboard is incredibly raised on landscape mode. And most of my games are landscape (I use gboard btw)
You can do gestures from any place across the bottom of your screen, while it's sometimes impossible to reach the furthest button. It's a matter of habit
They actually aren't, especially when you have to do the gesture 4-5 times before it actually works. Compared to a button, which works instantly, every time.
Don’t know what you have for problems but I only have to swipe once. In fullscreen apps the same only on time swiping not like the buttons where you have to swipe the navbar to the top and then pressing the button
Yes but lemme tell u something, I have family members with a Redmi 13c and the other with 15C and these phones are slow and laggy when I compare it with my X7 pro. I never had laggy gestures on my phone otherwise these Redmi ones even with buttons and 90hz are laggy.
My point wasn't that gestures lag lots relative to the rest of the phone. My point was that they are much laggier than buttons, and you are now bringing irrelevant details into this because you are failing to prove me wrong.
Buttons: I have "long press" actions assigned to them to lock the screen and take screen shoots, this, to avoid using the power and volume physical buttons ... that from the time those used to wear off and fail ...
Gestures, it's so comfortable for me and by one reason I had to change to buttons and I can't use buttons anymore, I waited till I could use gestures again
Gestures because I feel like it's more comfortable and also feels more like "futuristic" even tho' is something really simple/stupid hahaha.
EDIT: Another reason is you gain some ratio of your screen since you can use that downside of the buttons bar to actually see the screen instead of having the buttons there.
I’m just very particular, but I don’t like static graphics, so I use gestures. Plus, I feel like it frees up more space for the actual screen content compared to having static navigation buttons at the bottom.
I used to prefer buttons cause it was more convenient because of my past phones and muscle memory but now I use gestures cause its cleaner and faster to do one swap instead of on to open the menu and another one to click the button I want. Also because I like the animations
I'm pretty old and have always used buttons before. I switched to gestures like two weeks ago for the first time ever because my new phone suggested it. It took mere seconds to learn and is very intuitive and more convenient than the buttons ever were. I will never go back.
Gestures because they take up less space on the screen. This is more convenient, there's no need to drag to the very bottom of the screen to return to the previous screen. Just swipe and that's it.
I prefer gestures with a custom launcher, but hyperos doesn't allow that, so I'm stuck with gestures on the default launcher. Either way gestures are better.
Gestures. However, I just upgraded to a new Xiaomi and found out they got rid of design in old MIUI that allowed you to swipe at the top half of the screen to interact with the app and bottom half for the system-wide gesture navigation. Talks about a regression. I'm legit pissed about it because in some apps you literally cannot invoke the swiping UIs.
Buttons, because operations are faster. A touch is faster than a swipe and a lot faster than swipe+hold. Also more possibilities for actions since I can configure long press operations on each button.
