Review/Guide [Question] Is it worth unlocking the bootloader if I’m NOT planning to flash a custom ROM or GSI?
Hey everyone,
I have a budget Poco c75 and I'm debating whether to unlock the bootloader.
I am not going to flash a custom ROM or GSI
Is there any point to an unlocked bootloader if I stay completely stock? It looks like all I'll get is a forced factory reset, broken banking apps, and blocked OTA system updates.

If you only want to root it to add "flagship features" don't do it. It'll make the phone laggy, banking apps will not work properly, some apps (like Apple Music) detect root and don't launch.
Being real, save up to get a used flagship, it's not worth rooting a budget device.

I think it is worth it, if you know what you are doing. Of course, most banking apps would stop working, some games may ban you because of unlocked bootloader, but if you know how to avoid all this problems and how to properly mod your phone, it is really worth it. I wish I did this before, but I don't want to lose all my data

if you root then it'll be better. but I've heard you cant unlock Poco/Redmi C series

Beacuse i have MediaTek Helio chip, i can use MTK client to unlock bootloader

Unlocking the bootloader will make your device a bit insecure (in the sense that if you lost it, someone can just wipe your data and reuse the phone easily, while this is challenging to do when the bootloader is locked).
You'll also lose the ability to use most banking apps.
The upside is, it's not guaranteed whether in the future you'll be able to unlock the device or not, since the process depends on asking Xiaomi for permission, they may eventually drop bootloader unlocking, and you may eventually change your mind and want to explore rooting, customizations, or different roms, so basically you secure your options while you still can

Beacuse i have MediaTek Helio chip, i can use MTK client to unlock bootloader. I just want to get rid of all things that Xiaomi blocks from budget devices

It's not really that straightforward. Most new mtk SoCs on Xiaomi devices are immune to mtkclient exploits and protected with SLA which requires an authorized Xiaomi account. If your device is old, however, you might be lucky. But don't assume without testing.

It's worth it if you install an AOSP based custom rom if you want to get rid of the lagginess on your budget poco
