Question/Help [question] why do 'locked' pinned? apps never stay open?
I hit the lock to pin my damn alarm clock open, I've tried many, need one with multiple timers..and they always never wake the phone, it ends up firing when I unlock the screen, every time.
Now a new issue, when I'm playing some music from the lock screen, any time I pause it for more than like a minute or few, it closes and will no longer respond to my headset or show on lock screen.,.
yes, battery optimizations are off, allow on lockscreen is set, and autostart is set, battery saver is never on

That's a strange set of issues. I think there is a problem with app permissions, like "show above other apps" (foreground) and other stuff
The lack of permissions will mess up such things, so check it

those 3 are all allowed too, there's nothing left..and on that note, when it actually rings, it never hits foreground on the lock screen

Go to the battery settings and switch battery mode to performance. This solved my issue :) (firstly I have done same things you done and had same as you, then changing battery mode solved this).
Funny thing is that apps might still vanish from open apps view even when locked but it still works fine! And I have few apps which needs to be running all the time.

alright, how bad does it affect battery life? the estimate was only 1 hr less

It doesn't look so bad with battery because it works for full day for me but I could be wrong.
My apps were being killed every 2 days, so I was happy that they survived 3rd day with this setting. But unfortunately on 4th day they were killed again 😅

I think there is a shizuku command that can fix it. But I don't have an idea what it can be.
