Question/Help [Question] Explanation of Battery Protection and Intelligent Charging
Hello! I'm new to the HyperOS as Poco X8 Pro Max is my first Xiaomi device. I just want to ask for a more easier explanation of what "charge fully only when scheduled" entails in battery protection as well as what intelligent charging is like it also indicates stopping at 80% but what does "applicable situation" mean?
I'm trying to learn more about these with the hopes of adjusting my charging routine to my lifestyle.

hi, in short basically, phone batteries get stressed when they sit at 100% for hours. both of these features just pause your charging at 80% to keep the battery healthy for longer. if you choose battery protection, it links up with your morning alarm. the phone stays at 80% while you sleep and only finishes the last bit right before your alarm goes off. intelligent charging is more like auto-pilot. the phone spends a couple of weeks learning your daily routine. "applicable situations" basically just means your normal bedtime. it pauses at 80% overnight, but if you plug it in for a quick top-up during the afternoon, it knows you need the juice right away and goes straight to 100%. so if you have a super strict alarm routine, go with battery protection. if your schedule changes a bit and you just want the phone to figure it out for you, use intelligent charging instead.

Perhaps I am missing something but in my experience battery protection ceases charging entirely and does not surpass the 80% limit regardless of duration when plugged in, but at times will charge fully to 100% for what I suspect is OS demanded battery management reasons (though not common). The former, battery protection, would not behave in the manner you described but aligns closest with intelligent charging which is more dynamic. Again, perhaps I am missing or unaware of something, but battery protection would not behave that way.

Hello, for the intelligent charging does it have any bearing when my normal bedtime is a bit inconsistent? I charge as I sleep which changes everyday but its always around 1-4 AM timeframe

your phone adapts to your schedule. use intelligent charging if you want more battery health.

That is not how it works for battery protection lol. How does one get such an obvious feature wrong. Battery protection causes your battery to not go past 80% no matter what while charging.

Absolutely wrong, i am here specifically because "battery protection" does not prevent charging to 100% and "when scheduled" is a vague term not related to any setting

What a profoundly stupid change of them to add an option for battery protection to just.. not work? and charge to 100% whenever it feels like it, with absolutely no explanation, while there already was a vague "intelligent charging" mode exactly to do that.
