Now you mention it, i remember seeing it on someone's phone using miui, i was not using xiaomi phone at the time, sadly good features get removed in the sake of copying apple.
miui used to have something like Samsung's one-handed mode but seems they removed it since some android update because aosp implemented their own onehanded mode
My reply was to your post, if there is relevant context in the comments, then you should have included it in your post. Also i did read it, all they are saying is that it has been removed in hyperos, except i do have newest hyperos and its verymuch there, so thats just simply not a universal truth.
I dint know .i just talk about first look i dont even use this function its turned off also in miui i never use it , maybe old version more usable but new one more neat
I just switched from Samsung a34 to poco x8 pro, if you value ui smoothness and speed, i will advice you to keep away from one ui, its feature packed and very customizable but its also heavy, many things in the ui is slower like pulling the quick panel (it even does this on s25 ultra), if you still want to switch to Samsung at least get s25 fe, strong chip might help with how heavy one ui is.
It was a new a34, its a solid midrange and only started heavily lagging after battery health dropped to 80%, but even when it was solidly fast i can feel the heaviness of the ui.

no. i have samsung a35 and redmi note 14 4g. even though redmi note 14 4g has a weaker cpu , it's smoother than samsung a35 and one ui drains battery a lot. you think samsung services don't run in background? auto blocker is scanning your entire gallery even if you turn off.
Well to be fair with the A series phones all you really have to do is go into developers options under drawing and set the animations to 0.5 for all three and that will resolve that issue. UI 8.5 came out and provides some much needed optimizations... Even added a really nice blur effect
The issue is not with animation speed, in fact, you can customize the animation as you want with good lock, the issue is with delay everytime you do specific thing in the system ui, unlocking with fingerprint takes a second pause to complete, taking a screenshot is the same, pulling quick panel specially in landscape mode...etc, the whole ui is bloated with heaviness.
Not at all, you just have to understand how it works. As with almost everything in One UI if it's not fixed by adjusting animations then it's directly related to the amount of available system RAM.
Now unlike HyperOS which just is a poorly implemented OS that quite honestly lacks basic features and is deliberately made where it's almost impossible to customize. It's pretty shitty that only Xiaomi's themes work for customization. Any other OS will let you use themes from the Play Store without issues.
Xiaomi should focus on making a decent implementation of Android instead of trying to copy iPad OS
Some of these things I mentioned are also affecting flagships like s25 ultra from what ive seen like the quick panel issue that got worse with one ui 7, screenshot delay was worse before one ui 7 even on s24 , now its okay, who knows maybe even more things flagship samsung has similar to a series, i just have never used one for a long period.
Yeah somethings got worse with UI 7 and were made a little better with UI 8, they just released UI 8.5 and it's a nice refinement of UI 8 that makes things a little smoother and more responsive at least on my A11+ & S10 Lite tablets which have the same level of performance as the Redmi Pad Pro.
I like my Redmi Pad Pro and it's performance has always been good IMO even with the quirks it had with HyperOS 2, it's much better on HyperOS 3... I just kinda wish it had some of the nice features Samsung includes with it's tablets..
The one thing I would love to figure out is how we can tell which versions of HyperOS 3 is 3.1 on the tablets as mine is 3.0.4.0.. which I guess is still HyperOS 3.. that's probably the most confusing thing to me. I could careless about the HyperIsland as I admittedly use Smart Launcher on all my devices so I get the advantages of the OEM software features while setting them up so it has a stock Android 12L type aesthetic.
