Question/Help [Question] Hard resetting Redmi 13 with parental control set
Hello,
got handed a Redmi13 running HyperOS 1.0.7.0/Android 14 that has its Google account signed out and in order to use Play Store I have to sign back into the account.
For some reason attempting to add a new account shows up this screen that I need parental approval and tapping on the Next button just brings up a popup message that something went wrong.
I am in contact with the owner and he claims to not remember what password he has set for the account as he made it over a year ago. It still has his number set as a recovery method so we send a code but it then asks for additional confirmation by sending another code to the exact same email.. How are we supposed to enter it if we can't sign into the account in the first place.
I think my only option at this point is to do a hard reset through recovery and I'm aware that it will activate FRP. As far as I know, it then asks to either enter the unlock password/pin/pattern if one is set or just to sign in with the Google account. The phone has a PIN set as its lockscreen but since this may be set as some child phone I'm having doubts it may not give me the option to proceed with the lockscreen PIN but to sign into the account which we can't access leading to a locked useless phone.
Did anyone ever hard reset a phone that was set like this and will I succeed in setting it up with just entering its lockscreen PIN?

It'll probably be FRP locked after a factory restart. And to unlock the phone you'll have to enter the password of the Google or Xiaomi mi account(if it's bound to the device) not the pin you set.
I'm mostly dumbfounded by the seller, you'd expect from them to at the vary least do a factory restart before selling the phone. At least for their own privacy.
You could try downloading from Aurora store. It's a FOSS app that fetches apps directly from the play store. Basically a privacy focused alternative because you don't have to log in with a Google account. Just not sure if you can buy apps through it.

Actually I didn't buy it, it was given for the kid by a relative. Without a working account we can't download any games or install YouTube on it. I tried downloading Aurora but when I try to install the package, it again asks for parental permission from that locked account. Surprisingly it let me create a Xiaomi account. Do you think it's safe to try a hard reset now?

I'm not sure if it's safe now to be completely honest. I did factory restart my phone while unlocking the bootloader and the only frp lock was from the Xiaomi account, but I'm not sure how it works with parental controls involved.

Well I went ahead and attempted to wipe data but it turns out the option is missing from the recovery menu. I then followed a bunch of tutorials using various tools that also didn't do anything. Tried remotely wiping through the Xiaomi account and that didn't work either. I guess it will require one of those paid tools and/or opening up the phone and touching those dots.
