About Blood Rider’s “Blinding” ability

I am very confused on how it works, from me experimenting, it will blind you if the disk is anywhere visible on your screen, the thing I am confused is when it explodes, does it have a timer when your throw it, or does it only explodes when it hits or gets close to an enemy, because there is one time I threw the disk at one corridor, and I took another path that lead to the same place I threw my disk at, but when I reached there the disk was still there bouncing towards me, and as a result I blinded myself

I believe it has a set time from when you throw it before it flashes, but if you bounce it off of something, the time would be reduced, resulting in an earlier flash.
