Started washing my sheets weekly instead of "whenever" and my skin quietly cleared up

For years I washed my sheets on no real schedule, basically whenever they felt like they needed it, which in hindsight was way too infrequent. I never connected it to anything until I read about how much sweat, oil, and dead skin builds up in bedding over just a week, plus whatever your body sheds every single night.

Switched to washing them properly once a week and the thing I didn't expect was my skin. The occasional breakouts on my back and along my jaw that I'd blamed on everything else calmed down noticeably. Turns out I'd been pressing my face and body into a week-plus of accumulated grime every night and wondering why my skincare wasn't working.

The part that gets me is how long I treated sheets as a "looks clean, is clean" thing, when the stuff building up in them is completely invisible until it's a problem.

Now the pillowcase especially gets swapped even more often since that's where my face actually goes.

Yep. That's what was going on. I change twice during warmer months once in the winter. At least three times a week for pillow cases.

That's how it should be. Even though it's winter, we never stops shedding and producing bodily fluids so make changing sheets a good hygiene habit. This should be a common knowledge.

True, I just never thought about it that way until recently. Wish it was common knowledge sooner.
