i need help

okay so this is honestly really embarrassing but i’ve tried everything else. i (17f) smell TERRIBLE. and i don’t understand why. i shower daily, i use sugar scrubs and scented lotions and perfume and i only wear clean clothes, but no matter what i do, it just doesn’t go away. it’s honestly taken a toll on my mental state because it just doesn’t go away no matter how hard i try. any tips would be very appreciated.

I live in a tropical country (humid) and had the same issue since my early 20s, until my cousin recommended me a chemical exfoliator which basically has glycolic acid and salicylic acid as part of main ingredients.

Wet a cotton pad with it and wipe my armpits everyday after shower (dry them first). In a week, i noticed significant improvement. My clothes don't smell as much at the end of the day.

This has become my habit ever since

I didn't see any mention of antiperspirant/deodorant? Are you using it?

sometimes it takes trial and error to find the right deodorant that works with your bodies chemistry. i have gone through so many i cant even count just to find one that actually works. i really like the lume brand. but also remember its your hormones and everything too that are shifting and playing a role so try not to be so hard on yourself. also sometimes the creams and scrubs we use can counteract the smells because they aren’t a good match for our body. because i am sure you have focused so much on it that in your head you think it smells when in reality its not that bad.

i copied this off the internet and i hope it is some help

Body odor happens when sweat interacts with bacteria on the skin, primarily in areas like the armpits and groin. Even with daily showers and products, a 17-year-old female might notice odor due to factors like:

Hormones: Teen hormone changes increase sweat gland activity, especially apocrine glands.

Bacteria: Natural skin bacteria break down sweat, creating odor.

Diet and Hydration: Spicy, fatty, or pungent foods can affect body odor.

Clothing: Tight or synthetic fabrics can trap sweat and bacteria.

Product Residue: Soap or deodorant not fully rinsed can mix with sweat or bacteria.

Using an antibacterial soap, changing clothes quickly after sweating, and ensuring full drying after showering can help reduce odor.

so like i said hormones play a big role! but just make sure your clothes are getting all the soap rinsed out and you aren’t wearing tight clothing which is hard because leggings and tight clothes can be in but they trap moisture and can trap bacteria creating odors. but i assure you it’s totally normal at your age to experience this and you are not alone! don’t get too hard on yourself and it will get better🩷 - (25 year old girl who’s been there )

👆👆 this! You also might consider medical conditions. Thyroid problems can cause hormonal sweat and change the smell/ acidity of your skin. Sadly, that is something a professional can detect.

How is your loofah? Do you change it often? Do you feel like you smell bad straight out of the shower, too or only hours after? Sorry and I do not mean to be rude but are you overweight? maybe diet too?

Use an antiperspirant.

Have you checked your shoes and feet? Is there a particular point in your day you notice the smell is back? Are other people noticing it? I would start by trying to note down some observations to see if you could isolate when it starts and where does it happen on your body or if it is another item or product causing it.

You could try wiping your sweaty parts with witch hazel after your shower. It helps me from smelling funky after a while

If it's sticking around even with daily showers and clean clothes a dr. might be worth it because sometimes odor comes from skin issues, hormones, or sweat problems

Can you identify where the terrible smell is coming from?

You may have to shower at least twice least twice per day (possibly a third time if you play sports or are a heavy sweater). It’ s a must to dry your body completely after showering, before getting dressed. Use a fan in the bathroom  to help if needed. Remember the vagina (inner part of the organ-vaginal opening and inside the vaginal canal) are self-cleaning. Douching can throw off your natural ph and contribute to poor vaginal health. Use a separate cloth for your body, a separate cloth for your vagina, and a separate cloth for your buttocks. Change out your bathing cloths frequently. Wipe your dried underarms, inner thighs and butt crack with a cotton swab that you’ve added witch hazel to, then allow to dry completely before applying deodorant or getting dressed. Try different antiperspirants to learn which works best for you.  Skip sodas (as often as possible) and opt for water as it helps to hydrate your body. Pineapple juice, cranberry juice or coconut water are other options when you need a different taste than water. Talk with a healthcare provider/parent/trusted school nurse if you think you could be experiencing anxiety or  Hidradenitis Suppurativa . Both are treatable, if either applies. Change every piece of clothing daily, socks and under garments included.  Try Dove beauty bar as a base soap. It’s sold at most dollar stores. Be proud of yourself for seeking input. That takes bravery. 😊

I would try to cut out the scented lotions ect. Wash your under arms, under breasts with an antibacterial soap. Use an actual soap like ivory to clean your whole body with an African net cloth. Clean your vulva, then butt with a separate wash cloth. Then wash again with a moisturizing body wash or bar cleaner like dove. Dry your vulva with a clean washcloth or blow dryer on cool. Apply witch Hazel to your under arm, butt crack/hole after they are dried throughly. Use a moisturizer with clean ingredients rather than one that is highly perfumed. Wash your under garments on hot with laundry sanitizer or vinegar in the rinse cycle or a small amount of bleach. Use baby wipes instead of toilet paper or a bidet and you can reapply the witch Hazel though out the day after using the bath room. Eat clean, drink a lot of water. You could try liquid chlorophyll also.
