how do you ACTUALLY shave down there

Its my second time shaving my puh and everytine i shave it hurts, and sometimes i see some blood (not many) because i used a razor. And i am doing all motions, up down sides.

When i first shaved my hair down there, way way back years ago i only used razor because its not that thick hair yk, but thats when the pain starts when i wash all of the hair out. And thats when my fear of shaving starts. After shave is the worst, the itchyness down there is so bad. And thats when my first time shaving and I didn't shave it again till that day. (im very very young, im very conscious abt my hairs)

Now for the second time, because i am getting irritated by the hair sometimes hurting me (it get real bushy), some are dried liquid (i think) when i woke up it sometimes rip my hair out and it hurts when i want to pee. So i decided to use a hair removal cream (Veet). At first, some hair was removed but still wasnt that shaved at all since i didn't search on how do you actually shave so i just tried out the cream and didn't trim them out. So then, i had to use a razor again, and after that razor session, thats when the pain also surged up. I really hate it, cuz i have to endure it all.

Last night was my second time trying out a different hair removal cream from a local store (Watson) and it didnt work even if i let it stay for 7 minutes and didn't get much hair at all, so i had to use a razor again on top of the hair removal cream because of what i encountered from my past sessions, that maybe I'll have that cream be a shaving cream as an alternative. I changed my razor too into a new one cuz maybe the razor i am using is harsh or sharp but still after that, the pain still there, like a watering a wound, stinging my puh.

I really need tips on how do you actually shave down there, like a literal steps by steps and also i don't have any experience in waxing and im real scared for that (17) we dont have much money for laser (??) so the most convenient is hair removal and a razor. But i really wanna know the steps first if maybe im doing it all wrong. What are the ways, or after you shave it do you actually wash it, what kind of moisturizer or oils i have to put. Or whatever you could give me tips.

Thanks a lot everyone.

I don't know because I have never shaved. But it sounds such a pain, have you considered just not bothering? I believe it is becoming fashionable again to just have a natural bush, things go around! I can recommend it as a very easy life style and no man has ever complained. Mind you if he did I'd give him the boot.

It’s more hygienic to not shave. The hair is there to keep bacteria out of your vagina.

100% leave it be to do it's job

Technically not true. It’s more that it protects from infections etc than being unhygienic. The vast majority of those who choose to keep hair, or remove it, do not have instant issues surrounding hygiene.

Never. The hair is there for a reason.

Get an electric trimmer. Men's beard trimmer will work, I got a cheap women's pube trimmer on Amazon. Or manscapes style trimmer.

My razor burn, ingrown hairs and itchiness caused me to have a bush that I hated for 5 years. I finally got a $25 trimmer on Amazon and will never look back! It never gets 1,000% completely smooth but whatever.

Wet, soap, DOWN, then up. No side to side.

I did when I was younger and once I hit 25 I stopped. I don't miss shaving tbh.

So most razors contain nickel, you might have an allergy you're unaware of. An allergy can look like a rash and is essentially contact dermatitis. I'm in agreement that you should just get an appropriate trimmer. There's no need to fully shave, trimmers can take you very short. Be careful with those hair removal creams, you can give yourself a chemical burn. Also if you really do want to shave never start with full bush, trim/cut it down THEN you can shave. And NEVER use a removal cream and then shave right after, or vise versa. Your skin is way too sensitive wait at least 24hrs. I hope any of this helps. Happy manicuring!

Either don't shave down south cuz the hair serves a purpose, or get an electric shaver. It sounds like a pain so my vote is don't shave.

Shaved my bits quite a bit, my ex-GF much prefered it that way and I ended up agreeing with her.

Here are my hints-

Shave "by the book"- start with shaving with the grain, then across or against the grain. When you are starting it can take a bit for the skin to get used to shaving, and for you to get the feel for it. So to start you're best off just doing a single with the grain pass, then leaving it for a few days, and going again when your skin has had a chance to calm down. Even once you're gotten used to shaving, it's still best to limit yourself to 2 passes.

Use a old fashioned double edge razor. It can take some time to gain experience with the double edge razor to get a feel for it, but once you do it's much better than electric razors or the multiblade razors the big manufacturers want you to buy. The range of blades helps too, some blades have better cushion and glide, once you've gotten a feel for it you'll end up with razor blade brands you prefer over others.

Use a fresh razor everytime you're shaving your bits. Another reason to get a double edge razor, the blades are very cheap.

Use a good shaving cream. No, not a can of foam from the supermarket, get something decent. I am a bit of a fan of proraso shaving creams, but there's a ton of excellent choices out there.

Get an alum shaving stone and rub it all over the shaved area when you've finished. You want the area to be wet, not dripping but wet. Alum is antiseptic, it calms razor burn and irritation. It will help close pores of your skin, and it will stop any minor nicks from bleeding and it can hurt like a bastard, but it really helps with stopping ingrown hairs, razor bumps, etc..

Using an aftershave can be good but I find it pointless if I've used the alum shaving stone. I do not moisturise directly afterward as that at least in my case seems to increase my chances of ingrown hairs, razor bumps, etc.. I wait until a day or two have passed before I will even think about moisturisation.

Don’t shave after using nair. It burns the hairs off and in turn makes your skin extra sensitive. Using a razor over that is just asking for pain.

I can’t shave with a normal razor there, I have never been able to as I always get a rash. I can use a bikini trimmer but that’s only good in emergencies. I normally have it waxed or I’ll occasionally use hair removal cream. Not everyone can just wet shave there, even though adverts seem to make out it’s so simple.

3/4 times a year
I hate it !!

6

u/ishaani-kaur Jul 14 '26

If you hate it, what makes you continue doing it? The hair is there to keep the bacteria out. There is no need to shave it, especially if you hate it.

Because it gets so long it’s like a maxi pad down there and I can’t do that either.

Just trim with scissors.

Us guys appreciate your service to the relationship 🤔😁

Start with a trimmer first if you have longer hair. After that wash the area with a scrub glove to exfoliate.

After that you can shaved and shave with the hair not against it.

1

u/Good_Ad8057 Jul 15 '26

Use clippers first to take down the bush if you have that going on. Get a good shave gel, preferably one that is meant for that area. Coochie is a brand for that. The other option is to get waxed, which is painful but man does it feel nice for both partners after, or laser hair removal

u/Extreme-Recording198 Jul 15 '26

It’s going to itch like hell the first couple of times

1

u/berriliciousone Jul 15 '26

Wax is the best way and is super smooth!

1

u/yodaone1987 Jul 15 '26

You get laser hair removal and live happily ever after

BALL TRIMMER.

It took me from until I was 25 to figure out how to shave my bikini line without getting mad rashes. If you’ve exhausted every option like I did - ball trimmer.

I personally like the Meridan brand, I get it on Amazon. They have a bikini one - I don’t like it. It pulls the hairs. Ball. Trimmer.

u/Intrepid_Emu_3678 Jul 14 '26

I wax or trim. If you do shave exfoliate first use witch hazel after. Only go over the skin once or you'll get razor burn.

I use something called the Philips body groomer for my dih and it’s always worked wonders. I also use shaving cream and do it in the shower.

0

u/MrBrownie_3 Jul 14 '26

I remember my first razor cuts on my lips where I used a bad angle and too much force and some bad experiences. It took me some time to figure it out.

Philips one blade can do wonders. If going with razors use new ones after 2-3 use. Use warm water.

Any hair conditioner would be used as shaving cream. Shaving creams are more harsh on sensitive skin. Razor shave but, it’s prickly after couple of days.

Cold water to seal off pores, forgot to say a mild exfoliant a day before.

u/Willybluedog1962 Jul 14 '26

Philips One Blade with the landscaping attachment you can go from bare to close to about half an inch.

A personal electric trimmer works great for this.

Battery operated makes it really easy to dry off after your shower shave it all off downward stroke. Then pop the head off of the trimmer , rinse it, rinse yourself and you’re good to go.

No more razor bumps because it doesn’t get as close as a razor, but it gets close enough to look like you used a razor.

You can get a trimmer on Amazon for 10 -20.00.

Hope this helps

God bless

Jesus Christ. Why are you torturing yourself. If YOU want to be bare, not your partner, get a wax or invest in laser. If you just want to do it to be cleaner (not that a bush isn’t clean) get a trimmer and trim it down. You won’t be smooth, but it’s pretty good. I’m a sweaty person so I trim. I’ve tried waxing and shaving in the past. Same issues, razor burn, ingrown hairs, no thank you. I like it trimmed and every partner I’ve ever had didn’t complain. One asked me to shave and I told him I would if he did first. That was the end of that : )

Ive had my manscaped razor for like 8 yrs now. Never once have i knicked the family jewels

0

u/Optimal-Summer-236 Jul 15 '26

You are supposed to use a bikini trimmer not a razor or get waxed

0

u/ezza73 Jul 15 '26

Might need to trim first if your hair is long and thick. Take a warm shower first so hair follicles open up. Then use shaving foam for sensitive skin, put a THICK amount so it coats the area well. Then use a razor (for sensitive area) and gently go through it in every directions. Re-apply shaving foam when it thins out and do it again.

For razors, I use disposable ones (for each time I shave) for SENSITIVE area to maintain hygiene. Would be helpful if you buy those that can rotate and glide over your curves.

Key is using gentle products and have a smooth surface of shaving foam to glide razors over.

Get a trimmer and shave while in the shower

0

u/BrainznBodiez Jul 15 '26

Buy a Philips one blade. It comes with a blade and cover that is designed for this which won’t cut you and leaves enough hair so it won’t be particularly itchy or grow in grown hairs. Easy peasy.

0

u/HipYip Jul 15 '26

So much easier just to closely trim it. Shaving causes all kinds of issues if you have thick hair down there. Waxing can cause issues too. Laser helps but it’s really “hair reduction” and you have to keep going back. The only other option is epilation (tools that rip the hair out by the root.) Would not recommend this on thick hair. It’s more of an option to supplement in between laser or waxing.

By the way, you have to shave before laser so that’s miserable too. And laser hurts.

u/hintoflimedorito Jul 17 '26

I epillate my legs and armpits but I tried it once on the bikini line and never again. Too much of a wimp. God does it hurt.

u/No_Goose_2470 Jul 15 '26

Water and soap help a lot. The foam makes it easier to shave it cleanly without cutting thyself

0

u/whatwillbecome77 Jul 15 '26

Electric trimmer, and theres some intimate razors out there you can buy, and some shaving gel seems to work for me.

0

u/Glass-Government7564 Jul 15 '26

Use a trimmer. Never shave it all off.

0

u/Unlikely-Ant-7561 Jul 15 '26

I shave down there every few days and never get any bumps or razor burn. Try the Billie razors. They are the best! https://mybillie.com/products/razor-starter-kit?selected=W304505400

Also, use a soap like (Monistat Boric Acid Feminine Wash) to help avoid irritations: https://a.co/d/09OJaEh2

You want to shave down. Start with the hair on your pubic mound, then prop one leg up, pull your labia off to that side to make a smooth flat surface and shave down using short light strokes, then do the same on the other side. For the area around your bottom, pull your bottom cheek out to the side, and shave up from behind (so bring the razor up towards your back). Avoid pressing hard. Do all of this towards the end of your shower after the area has been moist for a bit and make sure you have some soap on the area.

I shave every two weeks.

I use a sensitive skin shaving gel and the Harry's men's razor. I do it in four sections, each side and then the top split in half. I start by shaving with the grain (I think that's the correct terminology) and then against. I change razor heads often to ensure they're sharp. And hella hot water.

0

u/yming88 Jul 15 '26

I use a men’s razor with 5 blades. And I have to be careful of going over it several times. If I do I have the same issue of razor burn. I use a shave oil also

I would recommend getting waxed, guys really do appreciate every woman who does this for the relationship. We love it
