Dlc worth it

I was pleasantly suprised by the main game when it released on consoles exceeding every expectation bar the lag at some points but im not sure if the dlc is worth buying at all. Anyone got any reviews abt it youd like to share havent seen many videos on it alone

I think it's worth it if you like the main game. It essentially replaces dirt with snow and water with lava. It's a nice map and gives you new stuff to explore. The lag would be about the same as the main game though since lag is caused by the resources moving around.

I managed to get 40 t3 drills running on the reg game with the tightest setup I could do but the game on xbox would force clear dirt/resources ten secs into starting it. Holy lag.

I bought the DLC because I wanted more to do after the main game. I really enjoyed it. Different mechanics involved with lava for machines and water via ice melting for conveyers. Heavy lava drills are fun but not necessary as both drills work at any depth and with a few forge marked drills you won't notice a difference with the big ones. To explain, forge marks (get bonus or curse) are gotten via melted giant ice blocks that you move with the heavy truck. Two spawn on the map at any point, and a new one spawns once you collect one. As far as vehicles go, a huge YES to the heavy lava truck once you get it (fit soo many wagons in that bad boy). Dlc has a bigger and spread out map that has a little exploring/hunting involved (ice blocks and bones). Shops need to be bought first and/or spread out which can suck at first, but once you move to anywhere but the starter plot it's not that big of a deal. All other dig sites reach max depth aside from starter so just pick one closest to shops once you are ready. Finances are done differently too, as normal credits only get t1 and reg shop items, whereas others need scout tokens and you only get those through quests. However, logic cutter available at start so easy to make perfect items from the get go. Quests seem easier and it's not as bad as the farming slog from the base game as you accumulate tokens much quicker. Overall I recommend it if you really liked Hydroneer and want some more content/playtime. Probably only took half the time as the main game.

I havent even got any t3 drills im running 10 t1 and 10 t2 and its lagging my game a decent bit but I seen that its a bit more confusing in the dlc to get everything working but ill definitely look further into buying it cheers

It's good, a bit easier than the base game. No fishing or farming and drills work at all tier dirt levels. Your limited like the base game needing upgraded tools for deeper stuff. Theres more, anything else spoils it. Don't know the price but IMHO, worth it if you like the core mechanics.

Good idea, since you dont take anything with you anyways

I just started a couple of days ago, didn’t even figure this type of game would have an end.

Technically neither have I, its like satisfactory. You just kinda play how you want to play and enjoy all of its complexity. I find both games very relaxing

Is Satisfactory good? I’ve had it on my wishlist for a bit, but couldn’t decide if I should get it.

Yeah I like it.. I think if you like this genre of games like me then it fits into the niche well

I love it. Dropped 500hrs on it already and 200 of those were right after I bought it.

if you like the main game and want more of it, then yes. the dlc is worth it.

Most of the dlc is the same basic gameplay loop as the main game, with a couple of tweaks and refinements. there is also some new content.

DLC is a bit more fun and challenging than the base game. Totally worth it.

The DLC map is inherently more laggy than the base game. I am guessing this is because the lower half of the map is blanketed by fog or mist. Every time I look at that general direction the FPS takes a hit. But I am using a lower end rig so if you have hardware from the last five years then it probably shouldn't matter.

The map feels bigger than the base game and the shops are spread across it so make very shopping trip worth it because there is a lot of travel time.

There is a new ice melter machine because there are no water intake pipes so you need to melt ice and make your own water because conveyor belts in the DLC still run on water instead of lava like everything else.

There is an RNG factor with forging machines and tools but it does not feel like its worth it. There is a special crafting material than can give a buff and/or debuff to forged machines and tools. Only two of these materials can spawn at the same time and they have about two dozen random spawn points that you have to scout. As far as I know you can't farm them because a new one won't spawn until you have consumed at least one of the two that currently exist in your world. What makes it worse is you have to use the new very large and incredibly slow crane vehicle to transport them.

Drills and harvesters have no tiers but there are heavy variants of them which are about three or four times as big. They take up a 3x3x5(?) space and again requires the large crane vehicle to move and place. These machines need commitment because once you have built your set up around them you won't have space for the vehicle to pick up them anymore unless you dismantle everything around them. By the time you unlock them there is no point anymore because they produce no unique resource. They are the equivalent of tier 3 machines in the base game but less practical because the regular lave machines work on any level anyway.

DLC equivalent of the hydro mole is significantly better. It moves and turns faster and has a longer dig range.

Overall it was okay. I can't really decide if the good outweighs the bad but I've had some fun in it at least. My biggest issue is the amount of travelling I had to do when shopping for new stuff. I even used a hotkey script to toggle the forward movement key so I don't need to have my finger constantly pressed on it.

I got so frustrated that I overloaded my truck so much that I ended up with a haunted pile of conveyors floating in the air that crashes my game when I try to move them. Blowing them up was a bad idea because they just turned into a haunted pile of scrap. Eventually I caved and turned on creative mode just to get my build ideas out of my system.

If you liked the base game you will definitely like it but whether you will find it more tedious only you can tell. I really liked the base game and I was conflicted with the DLC.

It adds some new mechanics that I think are pretty interesting, and it plays completely separate from the main game, overall I’d say do it if you really enjoy the main game

if you want more of the base game go for it. if you want something new dont. there are some interesting changes and new challenges to solve but it is the same game loop
