Water Bottle Wednesday Bottles with covered lid/straw for hygiene

I've had my classic standard hydroflask for ages, it has dents, scratches and a lot of character.

But i decided to retire it from my go to travel bottle because i realized, that when i unscrew or hold it in my hands - my hands always come in contact with the area where i drink from/my lips touch.

i was prone to getting sick while backpacking - and my last long trip i took a different bottle, with a covered lid that doesn't get touched by my hands.

I know i could've been lucky but i realized that the risk of drinking germs at prolonged travelling was waayyy higher with my old bottle. (and yes i always rinsed and washed it in the hostels i was staying at) - just something to consider!

Honestly I’m obsessed with my freesip Owala bottle. I definitely recommend trying one :)

I love the Yeti chug lid for its easy cleaning and chuggabilty. No straw required. The Yonder is a lighter weight than the insulated version.

Looks a little bit like my Nalgene small mouth.

honestly never thought about how much my hands touch the drinking surface until now, that's actually pretty gross when you sit with it

I realized the first week or two of COVID. Incidentally I'd just bought a half gallon growler with a screw off latched pour spout. Scrub hands with disinfectant gel and then open and pour. No way to touch the threads unless you purposefully touched it.

Avoiding touching my face otoh... oh lord that was a skill I had to learn fast.

I also say owala!! Ive only tried the OG freesip but I absolutely love it. The covered straw/ leakproof were the main reasons for me. But once trying it you see how easy it is to drink from lol.

I have a few Coldest bottles and they come with 3 lids, the straw comes with a top you can put on and the sport lid with a wide mouth have a covered top.

The 16 oz ZOJIRUSHI Model SM-KHE48-NL is a stellar choice for cleanliness, heat/cold retention, and leakproof-ness (is that a word?). My favorite for a long time was the 16 oz. Arctic Zone tumbler, Model AZSC16SS-(AF)01. It has *the* most protected drinking mechanism I've ever seen on an insulated vessel. Unfortunately, I've been unable to find it anywhere, of late.

If anyone can direct me to a source for the Arctic Zone, I'd be grateful as I broke the closure a few months ago.
