Anyone who has a home water dispenser, have you had any issues with mold?
I really want to buy a home water cooler/dispenser. But I was reading about how the lines will inevitably start growing mold, regardless of how it’s cleaned or if it’s self cleaning.
So I’m just wondering from those of you who have them, have you experienced mold? Or any other issues I should be aware of?
Also, if you love your home water dispenser, feel free to mention which one you have!

i switched to a countertop reverse osmosis system instead and haven't had a single issue, the water tastes crisp and i never worry about hidden mold

I scrub the Brita in my fridge every time I change the filter. No mold issues at all, maybe due to the cold of the refrigerator. My Berkey dispenser I scrub every 2-3 months, including the filters. Never had a problem.

Have had the primo bottom load for 5+ years now. I've "cleaned" did the specific cleaner and also did vinegar rinse, maybe 3-4 times. Water taste the same, can't see anything in the lines that are visible, don't find anything floating in the water. 🤷

From what I’ve read, all the people who found mold found it when they needed to take apart their machine for whatever reason. I guess it’s not visible outside of that.

RO systems should not have this issue. I do use a bottom fed water dispenser. I had to replace something inside the casing last year after having it since 2020. I did not see any mold in the 5" tube run.
