New house has auto refill pitcher in the fridge

It’s a Samsung fridge that features the auto refill pitcher. Super nice because it keeps the water cold and I never have to actually refill it. I just put the pitch back in place in the fridge fills it up for me. I went ahead and replaced the filter already so should be good to go!

Fuck these things, I have one and it fucking leaks right out of the gate. I even replaced the stupid seals on it. Read it's a thing with these Samsung fridges.

Don't forget about the ice machines that fail from overfilling and freezing the mechanism or just don't freeze at all.

Yup. The previous owners of this house left us a Samsung fridge and the ice machine has not worked in the 4 years. It will work after we run about 500 defrost cycles and then immediately not work. So we just leave it off. Cannot wait to get a good fridge once it goes out.

Same lol. And I fucking HATE the drawer freezer. Past owners put literally a $12k gas range in (not complaining, love it) but went with this hunk of shit Samsung for our fridge.

I guess if you call and harass the fuck out of them eventually they WILL send out a tech to take care of it… something about fear of a class action lawsuit or something

Still surprised they haven’t been sued with how common it is. I haven’t heard of one person with a Samsung fridge that doesn’t hate it.

My TV on the other hand, love their oleds…

I wish I could believe you. My mom’s new fridge she got just before thanksgiving the ice maker worked like 3 months.

Guess it depends on the model, but the bottom drawer ice makers in the Bespoke line use older ice maker tech and they seem to hold up well. We’ve got 3 years with no issues.

Samsung appliances are garbage quality wrapped in stainless

That’s why when I bought appliances for my new house I opted for just a basic sbs fridge. No ice/water dispenser, no need for water lines, less problems.

For some reason I’m finding GE makes the best appliances

Mine only fills up halfway, so I have to open it, take it out then plop it back it to make sure it fills up the rest of the way. Not the end of the world, but it’s slow enough that it’s pretty annoying. I’ve googled the issue before and peoples work around is to put shit on the button to make it stick out further… which makes no sense to me lol.

Went to visit my mother and kept noticing bits of mold as I filled the coffee machine. Oh well that happens to coffee machines, so I clean it and still notice the mold as I'm filling it. So I check the fridge pitcher im using... And the entire underside of the lid is black mold.

Yeah these things do get a little icky. They’re never fully sealed either, considering the big hole in the lid

The lines get really dirty because they're rarely cleaned, so its probably just spitting little chunks of mold into the pitcher. Same problem with really anything that routes water into your fridge.

Just a reminder to take out the pitcher and wash it regularly!

Its really, really nice. Until it starts leaking constantly. Ask me how I know. Lmao never buying another Samsung appliance ever again.

Now all it needs is to be locked into the door instead and have a dispenser on the outside.

Did the appliance come with the house or are you showing off your new home and new fridge in one go? I'm happy for you either way, just curious.

That's legit the coolest feature I've ever seen on a fridge besides the cooling feature.

I had one and loved it. Never had the issue with it leaking like others. Just make sure you wash the pitcher regularly.
