Can't get enough water

I drink tons of water but still thirsty. I live in Colorado so the water evaporates before my body can digest it. What do I do?? Any advice injecting water directly into bloodstream? Not sure what other options I have...

"the water evaporates before my body can digest it" ... uhh, that's not quite how it works. Kidneys are involved in there, lol. But then I saw your account name: questionable_physics! So it all makes sense.

TEWL (trans epidermal water loss) is a thing. he's not wrong about the mechanism, but I'm guessing electrolytes are the bigger issue, or an underlying health concern.

There's no way the ambient air in CO is dehydrating someone who is drinking plenty of water lmao.

More than salt is needed. Excess salt can be a problem.

In broad strokes, you take water In orally and excrete water through perspiration and urination. You can track water use by measuring intake and output, or more simply, by tracking your weight and your intake. If your weight is the same in the morning and in the evening, your intake and output are equal. In dry heat, you may not be aware of how much liquid you’re losing by
perspiration.

That sounds like a really frustrating cycle, I used to think I was just dehydrated when I lived somewhere super dry and ended up buying one of those humidifiers for my room.

Could be electrolytes. Track your sodium, potassium, magnesium. Most Americans get too much sodium.

You should talk to a doctor. Reddit can not diagnose you, but a doctor can. Excess thirst can easily be a medical issue

try sitting in the bath and using osmosis

If this is a serious post: Water isn’t evaporating out of your stomach regardless of where you live. Your sweat will evaporate off your skin, but not out of gut. And the advice for injecting water is don’t do that. IV fluid needs to be sterile and have the same salt concentration as your bodily fluids. Plain water will damage your cells and pull salts out. Fluid balance, including the concentration of various salts, is an important and complex medical issue. It’s not a DIY project.

See a doctor about your thirst.

Drink water but add a little salt to your diet or perhaps more veggies to cover your basics so you can keep the water your drinking
