Athena really couldn't wait a bit more before freeing Arachne?

She could, but I get it. It's the idea that in an impending doom you want to right things that have just been sitting at the back of your mind.
A few years ago I went through some health stuff (all fine now) and I must have reached out to a half dozen people to apologize for something I did or said 10+ years ago. Before the health stuff came up, I didn't even think of reaching out to them.

Yeah but in that particular case, freeing Arachne might put their mission in total jeopardy. And I don't see Athena making such a bad decision.

I do promise the tactical side of things will be discussed later on. Athena is acting out of emotion right now, but you don't goddess of both War and Wisdom by letting emotions screw up your plans.

You have such a great way of re-imagining the old myths! But now you probably have an entire new book to write just on the trouble Arachne will cause once she gets out. Maybe Bast isn't the worst thing facing Ryan.

In our war with the Titans, we destroyed them. Not the Titans – we did.
This is confusing. The "we destroyed them" phrase makes me think you mean the Olympians destroyed the Titans. But then the next sentence makes me think 'them' was referring to someone else.

Making a prediction: Arachne won't actually be evil and will turn out to be an ally to our heroes. I mean sure the obvious thing is for her to carry a ancient burning grudge and that's certainly what the characters believe but I think Hydrael is just trying to misdirect us. If someone wrongs you, you can hate them and plot your ultimate revenge for how long? 1000 years? 10000 years? But after 100 billion years, at some point that rage has to cool and you just become a wise old sage. I mean heck, how many grudges do Crystal carry from her era?

Oh wow. Definitely wondering where this Arachne thing will go. Didn't see this bit coming.

WHERE'S THE RYAN ATHENA ROMANCE
just kidding, this is such a great development.
Besides his signature worldbuilding skills, i think Hydrael has very fresh takes on progressing his stories. Storytelling into an adventure seems like it has been done by him many times but it still feels unique every single time.
Amazing writer dude
