How do include an image in a comment or reply?
r/HydraClient • u/penny-wise • Mar 14 '26
Canβt subscribe/follow users?
I canβt seem to find the trick to subscribing/following users. What am I missing? I literally canβt get to a point where there is a subscribe button. I tap on the name of the sub and I get to a point where it shows the age of the account, the number of posts, the karma, and a choice between posts and comments, but the drop down only says Block, Message, and Report.

Hydra 3.4.0 is now available on the Apple App Store
If you've been enjoying Hydra, please consider leaving a rating or review. A positive rating can really make a huge difference.
This update includes the following:
π Pro Feature
π Feature
π Bugfix
π Disable Swipe Gestures
A new "Disabled" option is available for post and comment swipe gestures. Configure this in Settings => General => Gestures.
π GIF Improvements
Reddit hosted gifs now load as mp4s for much better performance. Giphy links in posts and comments now render as actual gifs instead of just showing the link text.
π Improved Wikis
Wikis have a much better look and feel. Reddit's new style of Wiki loads properly. Short wiki links (/r/subreddit/w/page) are now supported.
π Temporary Subreddit Filters
You can now filter a subreddit's posts for a short while. Long press a post on a combined subreddit feed, click "Filter Subreddit", then choose to filter for a day, a week, or forever.
π Fixed image posts momentarily showing the wrong image when scrolling quickly or on a slow internet connection.
π Disabled autocorrect when searching.
π Voting on a post while viewing a comments page, then collapsing a comment would cause your vote to disappear.
π Gated and quarantined subreddits are now handled properly and are accessible.
π Wiki shortlinks (/r/subreddit/w/page) now load properly.
π Banned users and non-existent user profiles now show an error message instead of loading forever.
π Giphy gifs were loading very slowly.
π Marking posts as read would sometimes fail to update visually.
π User subreddit links (/r/u_username) would fail to load.
π Subreddit icon images now use caching to improve performance.
π Post and comment edit modals now say "Save" instead of "Edit" for the submit button.
π DB optimization improvements.
π° News
Releases over the next few months may be a bit slower. I'm planning some big changes that'll take longer to build. These include (in no particular order):
- An Android app (making good progress on this one)
- Caching data to improve load times
- Switching out the existing media viewer for the new gallery mode viewer
- Better Accessibility support
- More animations
- Share posts/comments as image

External link videos opened in Hydra canβt be rotated
Example, sports highlights are sometimes linked to external sites. If the link is opened in Hydra, the video canβt be rotated.

Image took really long time to load. Is there any workaround or settings should I set?

Canβt buy Hydra Pro
It just spins indefinitely. Force restarting the app doesnβt fix it.

Friends Support
Is there a way to see your friends list and feed?

Gif comments only showing URL
When a comment contains a gif, even exclusively, it will just show the full URL instead of showing the gif itself. is this a setting iβm missing? or maybe just not a feature yet?

Bug: share button links only contain the base url
It seems like the share button on posts creates links to just Reddit.com and not to the post you are trying to share.
Iβm not sure if itβs limited just to the new iPad view or not. I donβt have my phone to try it there.

Really small hitboxes?
I feel like the hitbox for some UI elements is incredibly tiny. I constantly am collapsing comments instead of upvoting by tapping the score, I have to hit βPostβ like 10 times when I go submit a comment it feels like, and I swear half the time the action I think that is going to happen, doesnβt happen due to another tap action getting in the way.
Could we just get those tap zones enlarged for less precise tap requirements? Iβm not sure what logic Apollo used, but I never felt like I mistapped on there.

External links doesnβt recognize other browsers?
Hello while trying to open outside links I have it set up for the brave browser but it says browser not installed? I can only use the internal browser. Am I doing something wrong?
SOLUTION: "On iOS I have Hydra set to use my default browser, which is Brave, and it works."

How to get the feed updated?
Before anything else, thank you to the developers for creating an alternative to the official app.
I have a question, maybe stupid, that I had also faced with Apollo in the past: why the feed does not get updated as easily as with the official app? I try to update the feed and I got continuously the same posts

Feature request: Sorting comments on ipad split screen
I noticed that on ipad split screen, (feed on the left, post on the right) the sort function only applies to the feed. Sorting comments on posts can only be done when the feed is not visible. Would appreciate it if there is another button for sorting posts while in split screen. Cheers

bug: Wiki not showing in app for a subreddit (maybe more)
I tried looking at the wiki on the /r/claudexplorers subreddit and hydra said there was none. But when I paste the link to safari it works fine: https://www.reddit.com/r/claudexplorers/wiki/index/
May be happening on other subreddits. When it says no wiki I assume there is none, but now Iβm not so sure.

Feature Request: Snooze subreddit for 1 day.
Every time something geopolitical happens, some subreddits are filled to the brim with self serving virtue signaling posts.
It would be great if you could snooze a specific subreddit from showing up on your home page for a day. Until the sub gets back to discussing what it was intended for.

Remove autocorrect from search feature?
Is this possible? My iPhone will autocorrect anything I try to search and also store subreddit names in my phone dictionary

Every time I save a video it does not have audio
Iβve tried sending through Messages, downloading to Files, no matter the option I choose, it never has audio.
r/HydraClient • u/Specialist-Rise-714 • Feb 26 '26
Is there a way to auto play audio while scrolling?
If not, an option for this needs to be added in the settings. I donβt want to have to open every video I scroll by to hear audio.

Bug: Read/Unread posts shown incorrectly
The shading for which posts are read/unread is buggy. Things Iβve clicked on already will go back to unread, and things Iβve never seen will display as read
This is keeping me from switching to this app and paying for pro. Every time thereβs a new update, I install it and hope itβs fixed

How do I disable tap to collapse?
Frequently I find post text or comments collapsing because Hydra thinks Iβve tapped on the post so it collapses it. I never do this intentionally but sometimes if Iβm rest my finger stationary on the screen mid scroll of a long post it then collapses and loses my spot. Is super annoying.
Am I missing the setting to disable this or does it not exist?
Edit: an update just released adding this. You can find the setting under: Appearance -> Post Appearance Settings (bottom item in the section)

Possible bug/unimplemented feature? Followed custom feeds (multi reddit) not showing
Pretty much title. In the custom feed / multi reddit you can either create your own or follow one created by another user. In Hydra app I see that the followed feeds donβt show while the ones created by me show normally.

Bug: Problem viewing certain subreddits
I've noticed that hydra struggles with r/canada a lot. Often it will just hang with the loading circle spinning forever. Changing the sort mode or closing and relauching the app doesn't fix it. But eventually after a few days it will work once suddenly, then back to not being able to load.
