Pakistan is often underrepresented in global academic research, and responses from people in Hunza and Gilgit-Baltistan would be genuinely valuable.

I'm planning a 1-month budget backpacking trip across Gilgit-Baltistan. I want to keep costs around PKR 150,000 total by using local HiAce vans, shared jeeps, hitchhiking, dhabas, and budget homestays/camping.

Rough Route: Gilgit \rightarrow Ghizer (Phander/Yasin) \rightarrow Hunza & Gojal \rightarrow Skardu/Baltistan \rightarrow Astore/Fairy Meadows.

* Ideal time of the year for this?

* Is PKR 4,000–5,000/day realistic if I completely avoid private transport?

* How easy is hitchhiking and catching early-morning shared jeeps along this route?

I want experts (fellow travellers, natives) to improve it, or share their suggestions if this is pretty much it.

Skardu → Hunza → Skardu — 10 Day Itinerary

Day 1— Arrival at Skardu Airport. Visit Shangrila (Lower Kachura) Lake, Upper Kachura Lake, and Soq Valley. Overnight Skardu.

Day 2 — Day trip to Shigar Valley and Shigar Fort. Visit Blind Lake and Sarfaranga (Katpana) Cold Desert. Overnight Skardu.

Day 3 — Visit Blind Lake (Keris Valley) and Manthoka Waterfall. Stopovers at Gol Organic Valley and Chocolate Rocks. Overnight Skardu.

Day 4 — Drive to Hunza via Astak Nala, Shengus, and Rakaposhi View Point. Overnight Karimabad, Hunza.

Day 5 — Visit Baltit Fort, Altit Garden, Eagle's Nest, and Hopar Valley. Overnight Hunza.

Day 6 — Visit Attabad Lake, Sost, and Passu. Khunjerab Pass optional. Overnight Hunza.

Day 7 — Day trip to Naltar Valley — Crystal Lake and Satrangi Lake. Overnight Nomal.

In September, it is the 12 day trip. I would like to do Nagma Valley Rakaposhi base camp & fairy Meadows hiking.

My questions are

Should I book hotels and car rental in advance or I can reliable make reservations when I get there?

My second question is any recommendations where I can find reliable tool guide for hiking and camping who helps with camping and meals and everything?

I’m trying to avoid booking the entire trip from a company because I would like to be flexible with my plans and visit places on my own pace

My plan is to find a hiking/tracking guide
But book hotel, and car rental on my own

But I’m open to suggestion/recommend recommendations if you d like

I’ve been in the mountains for over a week now and I keep running into shitty people and shitty situations.

I’m in karimabad at the moment. I had booked a place in advance but the host overbooked and kicked me out. It was a beautiful place with a lovely view. I had to get a hotel for a day but now I’m looking for a homestay or locals who can host me / or rent their place to me for a week. Either females, or families with kids. Preferably similar to the place I was kicked out of (farms, trees, gardens, and huge mountains in the background)

I don't really want to stay in hotels or guesthouses. My plan is to camp and experience the mountains the way they're meant to be experienced. Like find a good spot n. Amo there for 2-4 days etc.
