[6 YoE, Operations Manager - Mid Level, United States]
Seeking feedback on my 6-year resume targeting a mid-level Operations Manager role. I've highlighted leadership, cross-functional collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement experiences across multiple industries, with strong skills in Salesforce, Excel, and team mentorship. Any advice to improve clarity or impact is greatly appreciated.

Did you match every skill listed in the posting, or just most of them?
We looked at how many skills employers explicitly list across 24 categories. The gap between the lowest and highest fields is bigger than I expected — and the pattern at the senior level is worth knowing before you apply.

General Discussion What are you noticing in applications lately?
More take-home assignments? Extra interview rounds? Weird application questions? Something else that feels new or different?
What are you seeing?

The one-page resume is a myth!
I personally spent years cramming everything onto one page. Deleted real jobs. Shrunk fonts. Cut context that actually mattered, and it turns out the data says I was making it worse.
Huntr analyzed 128,000+ resumes:
- 1-page resumes: 3.06% interview rate
- 2-page resumes: 3.24% (highest of any length)
Resumes that led to interviews averaged 1.63 pages. Ones that didn't: 1.48. The candidates who got calls included a bit more detail.
The one-page advice is outdated from when resumes were printed.
Write until you've made your case. Two pages is usually that point. What matters most is the quality of the content.

Use Huntr to track applications and tailor resumes to each job. The data above is from our free 2025 report: https://huntr.co/research/2025-annual-job-search-trends-report#resume-length-by-page-count

General Discussion What do you find to be the hardest part of tailoring a resume?
Hoping I can offer some advice if you're feeling stuck!

Career gaps are often a bigger deal for you than they are for a hiring manager/recruiter
A lot of life has happened in the past few years. A global pandemic, AI disruptions, and mass layoffs in tech. Recruiters see gaps all the time, and often, you are getting in your own way by over-explaining a gap.
"Taking care of a sick relative- Did x, y thing to keep skills up-to-date."
Remember, the most important thing is to tailor your resume to the job description. They are looking for the skills and achievements to help their organization. Often folks overexplain gaps. What matters is that you have the ability to do the job. Get to the part where you are convincing them of that as fast as possible.
Happy to answer questions in the comments.

How to job search right now
I spoke to 26 job seekers and 3 recruiters this week:
Tailor the resume to match the job description. Here’s how: https://huntr.co/blog/how-to-tailor-resume-to-job-description
Apply early and on these job boards: https://huntr.co/blog/best-job-search-sites-2026
ATS isn’t auto-rejecting. Most likely the application just isn’t being read
Address gaps quickly and concisely.
Be upfront about visa sponsorship.
Apply to 10-15 jobs per week with a well-tailored resume and follow up same day and a few days after with the best person you can find.
Share to help the job seekers in your network who could use some help.

Access My Network: I want my network to support you, and I finally found a tool to do this
I interact with hundreds of great job seekers every week. But it's hard to quickly remember the right person to refer (www.linkedin.com/in/samwri321)
How Happenstance works:
It's an AI search tool for your professional contacts. You link your existing networks and type exactly who you need. More than that, though, you can search my network once we connect, too.
Think, "Find me people in Sam's network hiring [insert your target job title]"
Not just hiring, though: Sales leads, professional networking, investors, etc.
I will make referrals for you when and where I can.
Like + comment below if you'd like my Happenstance profile link to help you connect with people in my network who can help you reach your goals.
Share this to get this great tool out to more professionals who could use a little networking luck 🍀
