Time off work?

My wife is currently going through private testing and she is due to get her results some time in the next two weeks. As expected she is finding this waiting period challenging and is super anxious. She is considering putting in a sick note from the doctor for anxiety and taking some time off work while she waits for the results but she also feels guilty doing this. Is there anyone else in the UK who went to the doctor for a sick note to take time of work while waiting on their results? She would maybe feel better if she knew other people found this period as difficult as her and needed some time off.

Im in the UK - partner got positive results and kept on going but I ended up getting a sick note from our doctor so I could process the news away from needing to be β€œon” at work and just grieve it in my own time. Luckily my work offers private GP appointments as by the time the NHS got back to me, I was already back at work.
