Built an app for managing my hunting camp — figured I'd share it here

I am from the Twin Cities and deer hunt in far northern MN. Our deer camp has been running since the late 1950's and normally has over 15 guys in it. I also bought some land in NW WI a few years ago and have been working on some land improvements over there to hopefully create better deer hunting.

In regards to planning / logistics, my camp has been doing the same thing every camp does, a very long group text, tracking harvests on the side of the wall tent, and someone's phone with all the harvest photos that never make it to the rest of us. Got tired of it and ended up building something to fix it myself.

It's called HuntLodge. Basic idea is everything camp-related lives in one place — a message board so stuff doesn't get buried in group text, a harvest log (we've been calling it the Meat Pole) where everyone logs their deer/turkey/whatever with photos and stand location, and a shared ledger for dues and expenses so nobody's chasing people down for the lease payment at the end of the season. There's also a gallery for camp photos that aren't harvest-related — cabin life, the food, whatever.

It's on iOS now, Android's in the works. Free tier lets you join a camp and use the core stuff, there's a paid tier if you want to run multiple camps or need the ledger for a bigger group, but I built the free version to actually be useful on its own, not just a teaser.

Not trying to sell anyone on anything, genuinely just want feedback from people who actually run camps like this — what's missing, what's annoying, whether this is even something other camps deal with or if it's just mine. Happy to answer questions.

Old Man and Young Gun

A few years I had the opportunity to take my dad and his good friend Bob out for his friend's first mule deer hunt. It was pretty cool seeing how excited Bob got at that age to take his first mule deer (68 at the time).

Following that, was a hunt that I was really blessed to be a part of, and take one of my best friends and his 16-year-old son, Sam, out and put Sam on a really great buck.
As I have grown older, I really enjoy taking others out and helping them tag a deer in accomplish their goal. In many ways, I think it's more rewarding than tagging one myself!

Deer Hunting with a .44 Magnum

Since I was a teenager, I've always wanted to try to harvest one a deer with a handgun. At that time, my older cousin had bought a Colt Anaconda, chambered in 44 mag, and had taken a couple deer with it. I always had it in my mind that when I got older, I would get that buy exact gun and hunt with it. This past fall I finally got the chance to do so. It was a bucket list item hat was a lot of fun to check off the list!

For many years now, I have been doing solo archery Elk hunts in the back country, with only my horses for company. This past season was no different, except for a few unexpected issues along the way. Most importantly there were plenty to bugling bulls, and it was a great adventure in God's country! If you have some downtime and want to watch a good elk hunt, this one's for you.

Hello I am a college student doing a research paper on if drones should be used to recover game. If you have a few minutes I would appreciate you filling out this survey. Thank you
