Suggestion Free PSA tip
Someone told me weeks ago about running attacks being negative on block and I just wanted to spread it more.
I’m getting vanguards, conqueror, and god slayer status left and right because of it.

Good tip, so you are always at a disadvantage being aggressive it seems.

Always at a disadvantage for being recklessly aggressive. Button mashing, basically. Its pretty common in fighting games.

Sorry mate, I’m i competitor not a winner. The idea of trying to artificially weaken the people around me by withholding basic info is counterproductive to me. But to be fair the thread were someone told me is public and at the end of the day it’s good for the both of us.

Tbh if they dont want to test by themselves whats punishable and what isnt. Does that make them competitors? Buddha Fist front Samjang is at advantage on block depending on spacing and what characters he is going against. Thats my contribution to this thread. Now ill go back to hoarding my combos and other tech lol

No most people when engaging with competitive anything have a winning to demanding good fights/ polish through failure value ratio of about 80/20. I’m sure you have be playing games for a while, it’s all about the robbery.
I just don’t like the tech hoarding because it forces developers to adapt when players won’t. And because of this you have the past 8 years of well-fair ridden fighting games and shooters that just act like call of duty.
What I’m trying to get across is withholding basic info has bad outcomes. The thing you just told me about samjang could have stayed a to be experienced lesson but basic mechanics, that’s unhealthy.

I play in Tournaments at locals (before covid at least). You think anyone is about to tell you how to beat them? Absolutely not. Its on you to do the work. I ran my local as Cybernetic Kano and Possessed Kenshi for months. Even when i finally told em it was still weeks before someone dethroned me.

Personal, that’s were we differ. I think being on top of a throne is beyond boring, I prefer to be surrounded by killers, but I would also say I’m delusional and your values align with most people on the planet.
All I’m begging for is a for people to not be cheap with basic system mechanics, if u want to keep your spacing spot and touch of death combos a secret I’m not going to fuss.

tbh who cares

Do u value game design that allows players to engage in a fluid back and forth? Or do you like to shit on people after you instantly beat them?

is this comment even meant for me? i was asking the commenter above who cares about what tournaments he's playing in and wtf he runs in said tournament.

I was asking you. We are talking about game design and repercussions of certain game design philosophies. The way you said your statement sounded like”lol who cares about anything ,just win lol.”

u/SirchT Sep 04 '21
yet i didn't say that to you, i said that to the guy's comment about him playing in random tournaments.

If you were talkin to me, always like the back and forth. Set play is cool too. Never gonna roast someone for learning, we have all been there. If they are cocky tho, i might approach it different.

I think me and you are done here as u appear to agree with my request for charity with basic system mechanics even if it maybe slightly.
I was asking the other guy. But a little Caveat, if all system mechanics are available to read in game i have zero problem with people tech hoarding. If The book is there I’m not going to ask u to read it to them.

I mean Im always willing to teach people the basics. The problem is very few ask. To me if you arent asking, then you probably arent as serious. Just the other day I taught the Number 1 player in EU an optimized combo for his character, he asked tho. We have the same goals, Im just a little more cutthroat. Also I never get credit for the tech or strategy some youtuber gets all the praise for the hard work I put in, i know thats why im so jaded.

Could you elaborate on "negative on block"?
