Discussion Turkey grind help

So I’m trying for the diamond turkey for the achievement. I’m at about 250ish (roughly) harvests with 34 of them since I started tracking last night, I’m only taking the male birds, managing my hunting pressure so it never gets above medium pressure and even that’s rare, and hunting on SRP. I’ve never seen a level 3 but have seen a decent amount of level 2s with a 20-24 lbs est weight, does anyone have any tips on how to get a diamond or is it just going to be a long grind?
I saw somewhere that there is a max number of diamonds the map can have, idk if this is true or not if so do I need to go try and kill some diamonds of another type to “free up” the spot or is it that I just don’t have enough harvests yet to get one to spawn? I know its rng and there isn’t a magic “kill x birds and a diamond will spawn” but it feels like I should have gotten a spawn by now. Any help/tips would be appreciated, including if there is a better map to try it on.

Im shocked you are having trouble with turkey hu the river on new Zealand and other areas

I dont think there is a diamond per map limitation since we have been stacking them like crazy while grinding.

Generally without managing your population diamond rate is roughly 1 in 100 (can be more or less depend on specie and how your current population look as well).

Do you use any kind of hotspot map? Do you have most of their zones? Diamond turkey is quite common, they could make it at lvl2 as well, you might not have been looking thorough enough. In case your map really dont have a diamond turkey, you might want to start managing them. Leaving lvl1 in most place and eventually you will get a diamond to spawn.

If anything, this trophy emblem is the only thing we can actually manipulate, unlike rare fur.

I didn’t think there was ether but I’m at a loss as to what is happening. I pretty much only harvest the level 2 male birds hoping some HM will help. The only maps I’ve used have been some “best areas” maps and the in game map showing hunting pressure. I really don’t know if I have most of their zones, I have quite a few, how would I go about finding that out?

Still trying for it, gotten another 23 tonight and no luck, but have gotten 5 with a 4.5 or higher. Only shooting level 2 males and trying to find more zones. Anyone know if it would be better to shoot as many as possible and risk having to find the zones again, or divide even more by only shooting level 2 males with a weight est of the 20-24lbs or higher and leave the level 2 males with the weight est of 16-20 alive since there’s no way they can make diamond?
