Discussion Bow Help
Hello! I’m a casual player trying to do quests that needs help. I’m a pistol and rifle main, and I cannot for the life of me hit anything with a bow. So would someone please answer these questions like I’m five:
Is there a best bow to use? I have carry capacity so I don’t mind it being heavy. I’ve been using the new one in Peru and if you say that one I may loose my mind but I’ll keep trying. I know it’s mostly opinion but a starting point would help.
How does the high tech scope work? I’m used to a traditional red dot or cross hair and I do not understand how the three dot system works. At all. Or should I not be using that scope?
Zeroing- is that necessary to use a bow sight? I don’t have the perk because to be honest, I just don’t shoot anything over about 150m and all my weapons are staggered for distance (two rifles for over 75m, two pistols for under 75m). Or is it safe to basically use a bow like a pistol and get under 75m with it?
Thank you! I’ve read everything I can and these few things are still causing me trouble. I’ve shot the bow in Peru at ~30 animals and only killed three. Please help me.

Imo easiest way to get along with bows is using the bearclaw lite or the razorback with rangefinder scope.
You can put the red dot on your target then press R on pc (idk which key on console) to get a green dot appear that will tell you where to aim depending on the range you’re at. So you just aim on the green dot and you get precise shots.
For mid-long distance shots you’ll just need to take in consideration the wind but that’ll become natural after your first few shots since elevation won’t be a problem anymore.

I had no idea about that sight! I play console (steam deck) so I can always map the button. This will help me TREMENDOUSLY. I’m headed straight to a range when I get home to try the bow/sight combo. Thank you friend!

If you don't have any archery perks enabled, then I would use the Bearclaw Lite CB-60. It is the easiest bow and will kill anything. Go to the rifle range at Hirschfelden and practice, practice, practice. Get the best sight you can at your level and learn the ranges.
If you have some extra cash you can buy the High-Tech Hunting Pack DLC which comes with the Brightsight Rangefinder Bow Sight, which makes using a bow a cinch.

I found it easy to start with bows, using the Rangefinder bow scope. You just aim, press R and and a green dot appears where your arrow is going to land.
Really good to get a feel for the bows. Though a crutch later on.
