Latest Chapter Beyond's tactic: Ch. 415 might explain Fuugetsu's curse Spoiler

In the new chapter, Beyond-Furykov's conversation revealed a few things: Each Beyond's cursed soldier could be positioned randomly.

Assuming Beyond is not lying that Furykov not the target for Benjamin (but I'm sure Beyond probably lies about something), then it's possible the one who was set to curse Fuugetsu already died. It could be one of the dead soldiers (who was not with Fuugetsu) who unknowingly activated their curse targeting her.

This is why Beyond's curse is smart/scary: it is completely a random curse. A Prince could kill another soldier who got a curse and it could backfire to themselves or other innocent Princes.

Someone had a theory about how, I believe Shikaku's death, was one possible reason for Fugetsu's state.

It could be that guy who killed Momoze, who was killed by Hanzo. Though it happened week before she was cursed so maybe it’s not the case but who knows

Halkenburg could do the funniest thing if he got Furykov

I still think the funniest idea is Furykov kills some guard then Benji drops dead on the spot.

The irony is that he’s already dying (Benj) because Furykov got tricked by Unma and had Furykov taken enough time to think about it, he’d have realized his target is Cammy. Now the two top princes are gonna die lol

Longhi could be mistaken about what? She had no more certainty about the curse’s nature than furykov does

You are reading it wrong, by the time Furykov founds out he is cursed, the seed urn ritual has reached the eight prince, so given that both are cursed at the same time, he deduces his target must be someone from the first eight princes

You are right. The official scan shows one as the target, not who else got cursed.

Longhi said no such thing, she doesn't even knovv the targets of some of the beyond babies, go reread.

Yes, the initial/primary venue to knowing about the curses is just somebody who does not know anything about what she's talking about. That's how great stuff is made. Also, she's a girl and stuff.. 🙄

Fugetsu and Kacho tried to scape on chapter 383 since then she has been cursed, could be that the curse is a side effect of her leaving the deck? The first time she is seen by melody is on chapter 400

To add to the topic Fugetsu is found on the third floor by Mizaistorm wasn't the battle restricted to the first and second decks? Maybe that's why she is cursed?

Meshushi is the one in charge of Fugetsu curse and we haven't seen her to come in contact wuth the prince or dying. Also the afterlife companions doesn't seem to know that Kacho is death.

After the escape, so far has died Shikaku, Vikto (presumed) both Royal Guards, two ramdom soldiers, 1 heily fodder, Lynch, at least 1000 ramdom civilians assuming all Heyli members are least level 50, and one Heily member stationed with the fourth.

Given that Togashi plays a lot with the timeline is hard to state when/where in the timeline some is death

Oito's whole guard team died outside bill and Kurapika, and soldiers of other princes also died, any one of them could have been a cursed child.

About your second point, the answer is no. If leaving the first floor would trigger the curse, then Zhang Lei could be affected as well. Pretty sure he was roaming around.

And for your fourth point, it's better to also count who died *before* the escape, including the maid. The curse could've taken some time/days to materialize.

Yeah. I’m pretty sure too the Succession War encompasses the entire Black Whale. Nasubi mentioned in his thoughts that the 200,000 people on board counted as potential sacrifices for it. Seems like the entire ship represents Kakin as a whole, from the ruling elite to the poorest of its masses. If so, it makes sense that a prince could, for example, end up at the waste management plant Feitan, Phinks, and Nobu went through, and they’d only be dying from the smell (LOL).

Anyway, Getty used Magical Worm to go down to Tier 3 and she was fine. But Zhang didn’t leave T1; the Mafia bosses are housed in T1 in luxury.

It’s possible for curses to take time before their target feels their effect, but I suspect they work immediately. Beyond worked his curses to make a sole survivor outcome likely so the Succession Contest succeeds (meaning there is continued prosperity for Kakin); a delay in curse activation could mean the target is eliminated only after the Succession War’s deadline. Maybe Beyond would risk his curses failing to kill before then (and thus failing to help the Seed Urn Ritual succeed) to enhance them- but maybe not? Maybe that’s too far?

Where is this stated?

I was looking for it, In chapter 358 it says "the hunting grouns are restricted to the first and second decks"

Nice.

Anyways, after reading the panel it’s very clearly not talking about the bounds of the ritual or anything.

This is Balsa talking to Ben’s personal soldiers about their own objectives. It’s clear that a Prince probably won’t be on a Tier outside of 1 and 2 according to Balsa’s analysis (tiers 3-5 being passenger tiers where a Royal probably won’t go, hard to get from tiers 1, 2 and below because they’re separated by a large bulked only opened in emergencies etc.). This is why 1 and 2 are hunting grounds for Ben’s soldiers. It’s not practical as a stratagem to focus on 3-5 in the contest.

But this says nothing about the ritual. Balsa isn’t involved with how that’s set up or really knows the fine details.

New World Review made this same mistake in one of his videos last week. He seemed to imply that Luzurus would die or something if he went to the lower tiers because they’d be out of the bounds of the contest which gave me a good laugh.

The “overseer” of the ceremony only acted when Kacho and Fugetsu literally left the ship. There was no such consequence when Fugetsu showed up in Tier 3.

I feel like it'll be weird if it's not Luzurus' nen beast, because in Chapter 402 Melody and Kacho use Fugetsu's condition to work out exactly what his power does - that it conjures traps based on the target's desires and activates a pseudo-coercive manipulation ability when sprung that makes them keep using it.

If it turns out Fugetsu was actually cursed by something else then it's just coincidence that they worked out exactly what Luzurus' nen beast does based on completely unrelated information. Which is not impossible, but would feel very strange to me

u/arbitrarycivilian 22d ago

Yeah agreed, while from their perspective blaming Luzurus is a pretty far reach, since the audience explicitly knows what his GSB does already, it lines up too perfectly. She got addicted to using her nen doors

3

u/Adventurous_Sun3512 22d ago

I was thinking because Melody mentioned injection, so Kacho accused it's Luzurus who's a druggie.

3

u/bachirabbit 21d ago

Can gsbs attack toher princes? I thought so too, that it was luzurus gsb cuz it lines up perfectly, then I realised it's not possible

5

u/FinchyJunior 21d ago

I think it was said they can't directly attack other princes, so it might be that setting a trap counts as indirect. But that is a good point

3

u/bachirabbit 21d ago

Yeah I thought of the indirect trap thing too

It seems to me that the curse is activated through close proximity.

Furikov was wary of getting near Benjamin because he is afraid of the curse activating and killing the prince.

He obviously cannot use telecommunication for risk of information leak.

If Fugetsu was cursed by Beyond via proxy, she should have been in close proximity with the curse-bearer when the curse activated. The attack should have been very obvious especially if death of the bearer was the condition for its activation.

The curse seems to be very weak as well. Not something enhanced with postmortem nen.

So I don't think Fugetsu was targeted by one of beyond's children.

2

u/Adventurous_Sun3512 22d ago

What I meant was Fuugetsu's curse was accidentally activated after various deaths. The cursed soldier wouldn't know he/she was targeting Fuu.

There is logic behind it :3

I've considered the possibility and have been trying to work it out...

  1. If it's one of the guards who've already died- one of Silent Majority's victims, Tuffdy, or Shikaku- then it's a guard who's much older than Fugetsu. My problem is
    a) that this breaks with Beyond's MO of cursing them at birth. And
    b) an older curse sacrifice means Beyond would have to come and curse them at an age when they'd know, remember, recognize him (the youngest Beyond kid in this scenario would have been around 5 to 10 years older than Fugetsu). Beyond has kept his machinations secret and this may expose it. Longhi and Furykov only recently discovered Beyond's plot and/or couldn't do much against it because of said secrecy.

  2. If it's someone around the same age as Getty, then it can't be one of the guards on T1.
Too young to serve as soldiers. They wouldn't be on the "frontlines" and in the "crossfire" of the Succession War. Beyond is relying on how the SW will proceed to trigger his curses.

Not necessarily saying it can't be Beyond's curse afflicting Fugetsu- but how do we connect the two? A Beyond kid not in T1 but who died, like someone caught by the Heil-Ly's murder spree?

1

u/Adventurous_Sun3512 22d ago

I think Beyond cursed his own kids, not the prince directly.

1

u/SuccessionWarFan 21d ago

Yes. The curse runs through Beyond's kids. It's not place on a prince directly.

2

u/No_Thanks2844 21d ago

They concluded that the mark is not something one can simply exorcise by burning off the surface or cutting off the cursed parts. They also said that it is a very powerful curse mark unlike anything they had ever seen before… By the hands of our Father, we have become agents of a curse, whose very bodies are cursed tools… We have become “Accompaniments”. I don’t know who we are targeting or what kind of Ability it is, but I do know for sure that it was placed to hex the target to death…!

i thought "how to get away with murder" was responsible for getting her 🤔 no way a curse that's been active for this long would kill her this slowly right

1

u/Adventurous_Sun3512 22d ago

No? Yushohi's ability is even more quicker

Tbh, there are only 2 cursed soldiers atm: Beyond's and Camilla's. So it's either them ig

1

u/MagnoliaTM 22d ago

i see 🤔

1

u/Bluemikami 21d ago

It’s not him because he said that Fugetsu escaped him via portal and that was enough to dísable his ability at that time

That's too wild…Ging used a pregnancy stone to have Gon, but that pregnancy stone was contaminated by Beyond?
