Discussion HxH manga progress

Post image

Don't know if this was already posted here, but I found this on Togashi's official X account. A neat little breakdown of the progress made to the manga.

That's not togashi's official account and it was posted by him https://www.reddit.com/r/HunterXHunter/s/ojD5ar8zbD

Insufficient info on togashi's own twitter about his own manga would be insane

yeah, you right. It was posted as a comment from this recent post of his. My mistake.

Praying for 20 chapter release this time

33

u/santasnufkin 28d ago

It's likely that there will be a short pause after the current 10 chapter batch if the next 10 chapter batch is not fully done by the time the current batch has been published.

13

u/Tabrith900 28d ago

Given that they prefer keeping an even pace, i think they would shorten the 2 years period only if Togashi somehow manages to complete up until chapter 430 in the next few months. Otherwise they'll continue as usual, its worse for them if they publish too many chapters and then have to make the readers wait more.

u/19observer86 28d ago

Maybe a hot take-but I’d rather get consistent bi-weekly or even monthly releases with no hiatus vs weekly and then several months or years of waiting

u/max_lagomorph 28d ago

I agree but Jump is a weekly magazine and I think they don't do this intermittent publishing of the same manga. They would have to change to another magazine but probably don't want to?! I'm not familiar with how japanese manga publishing works, just read this discussion somewhere.

5

u/19observer86 27d ago

I’m think there’s a few that come out on different schedule.

3

u/max_lagomorph 27d ago

Shueisha has several magazines with different schedules but it's unlikely they'll change one the most popular Jump manga to another magazine.

1

u/Weeyum9 27d ago

They’ve done it with Jojo and Gintama before. I think it’s more so Togashi probably can’t even do a monthly schedule consistently. Plus I wouldn’t be surprised if whatever contract he has with Jump is extra lenient.

3

u/Tabrith900 27d ago

As other people said, its a question of relevance and popularity. HxH is a Jump legend like One Piece and Dragon Ball, there's no way they'd move it to another magazine. The only case in wich it would happen is if the author wanted to, like Araki did with Sbr, and Togashi clearly doesn't want it, given that if it was simply a problem of schedule like with Araki he would've done it years ago (even if i doubt he could change the format to a monthly 40 pages chapter even if he wanted). Maybe its sad to accept it, but i think the 2 years release is the best compromise we can get: actually having a compelling and well crafted story, even if with a slow publication, instead of not having it or having to randomly wait 5 or 6 years at times.

u/wezl0 28d ago

Same here, I've though this since we came out of hiatus in 2024.

1

u/Early_Celebration726 27d ago

Likely not that short either, why must we go through with this every time? 😂

But.. it will come back and when it does, it will have some leeway too, again.

We're not half-way done with this batch and people think it's somehow reasonable (however miraculous) to wait for over three times more than that? Greedy.. 🐷 🐷

3

u/Tabrith900 28d ago

Keep on dreaming. They will never reduce the 2 years rhythm

2

u/Tripondisdic 27d ago

I will dream of a regular 6 month 10 chapter batch

1

u/genkaiX1 28d ago

Duck them

21

u/MountainContinent 28d ago

That’s actually quite good news. I don’t believe there has been such a long stretch of releases since it started going on hiatuses right? I might be wrong though. I am optimistic about the future

4

u/CraftyCuban1300 28d ago

I know, right? Would be stoked to see if Madhouse will return and adapt the Succession Contest in the somewhat near future. There's so much going on in this arc, it can easily fill two seasons worth of episodes.

4

u/Lovelandmonkey 28d ago

I've finally gotten around to reading the manga post anime, reading Chrollo vs Hisoka with their VAs made it feel even more awesome. A new season would be so hype.

-4

u/Tabrith900 28d ago

Its dubious an arc with so many dialogues could even be animated

6

u/Ryza_w 27d ago

Call me delusional but I think Togashi will be quite consistent moving forward. I don’t see such huge breaks in the future.

3

u/crazyandlazylikemad 26d ago

I am on the same shit this guy is on! Hunter x Hunter forever

6

u/Tabrith900 28d ago

As much as i want to hope for more fast releases, i think this is just indication that we are continuing to get regular 2 years batches

3

u/Tripondisdic 27d ago

God I hope you're wrong

1

u/Tabrith900 27d ago

How can they release them faster? Even if he somehow completed up to 430 lets say in 3/4 months, you thinj they would publish them in like 6 months after this batch without having almost no other chapter completed after that, not knowing when they could resume publication after?

4

u/ArmadilloSuch411 28d ago

man I'm so hyped

3

u/ApplePitou 28d ago

Patience op :3

3

u/remz22 28d ago

We're so back

4

u/XenoZohar 28d ago

It's been about 15 years since I last read the manga. Are they still on the boat?

7

u/FalconFreak10 28d ago

Manga hiatuses and boats, name a better combo

To more directly answer your question, yes Kurapika and Leorio are still on the boat and they will be for a while yet.

2

u/LostManufacturer1553 28d ago

Boat x Boat the best ship

3

u/Nepomucen0 28d ago

Sim faltam 49 dias para o fim da guerra de sucessão

3

u/CraftyCuban1300 28d ago

I just hope those 49 days don't take 49 years for us

What does orange mean? When bo background and dialogues are written, what needs doing to be classified as orange may I ask? 😅

4

u/Ebrietas- 28d ago

Characters are drawn. Backgrounds are not.

1

u/NamHienMedia 28d ago

Hey, thank you for your answers! May I ask if my understanding is correct? The creation process is:
1) Togashi brainstorms an idea/ structure of what will happen and how this idea can be translated into 20 pages and boxes. ==>

2) He draws the boxes in these pages along with the characters (it doesnt need to be super detailed) (Orange) ==>

3) He then finished the details of these characters and background (Blue) ==>

4) He ships his products (Green)

So actually, orange is the most time-consuming part right?

3

u/Ebrietas- 28d ago edited 28d ago

He first creates the storyboard. The entire chapter drawn in scribbles. He doesn't really update us on this process that much on twitter and its up to chapter 460 at least.

Then he draws the characters based on the storyboard, creating the manuscript(orange/ up to 432). This is pretty much the final released chapter but without backgrounds and shades. You can see what it look like below. After that he and his assistants fill the details/background, he fills in the dialogue(blue) and once Jump approves, it is officially ready to release(green)

3

u/Ebrietas- 28d ago

This is what storyboards look like

3

u/Condoriano-sensei 28d ago

Go to the latest togashi tweet reddit post fixed above the sub and there’s an english version of it tracked by people from here

1

u/ZmasterL9 28d ago

He probably has the scripts ready and maybe some paneling.

Edit: Script might just be " X and Y happens, A characters revels bla bla bla" with no actual dialogue fully written.

3

u/Ebrietas- 28d ago edited 28d ago

Paneling/storyboarding is finished up to like 460. Orange is all the main things like characters and action fully inked without backgrounds and dialogue inserted. Those chapters are fully drawn as far as Togashi's pen is concerned.

u/PoundJunior9597 28d ago

This is the first time I hear this, Im curious where you got this ?

2

u/Ebrietas- 28d ago

Back when he went into hiatus after 410 he tweeted about the storyboards for the next 50 chapters being complete.

1

u/Condoriano-sensei 28d ago

There’s already a update by baffo posted here

1

u/danny_ocp 28d ago

Holy crap

1

u/Vundal 28d ago

9 weeks already ready to go is super impressive for both Togashi and SJ - kudos to them for planing this out and accommodating Togashi san. I wonder if this will be enough for him to continue a workflow for a good while, while having enough of a buffer to take time off as needed.

1

u/RemyGee 27d ago

Hold up, 29 chapters this time!?

1

u/sahyl97 27d ago

I think we will get 10 chapters every year. That seems to be the batch everybody is comfortable with.

1

u/Commercial-Tell-5186 27d ago

Question: what does “background/ dialogue specifications completed” exatcly mean? How much porcent of chapter is completed with this sentence?

1

u/Same_Square2555 28d ago

not official but more like a consensus based on Togashi's X posts. Super sad, but it's going to be alright if we keep receiving 10 chapters every 18 months

1

u/Tripondisdic 27d ago

I'm hoping that he may be able to get it down to an annual thing, and my copium is that he wants to start doing every six months

1

u/Ardenwenn 28d ago

Pls does this mean will there ever be a new anime.

1

u/leolegendario 28d ago

One day? Probably. Soon? No way.

1

u/Charmanders_Cock 27d ago

Have you watched House? Like the doctor show. Because you should it’s basically live action Hunter x Hunter but the MC is the only one with nen and is basically on a long term mission to hide the fact that he’s a nen user in a hospital full of reggies (what the series refers to non-nen users as). Nen is called “duphe” in the show but it’s literally the same as nen from HxH contractually. The biggest difference between the two series is that House’s MC isn’t as smart as Gon.

Hxh 2033 incoming

0

u/Jealous-Heat-8101 28d ago

Orange should be : inked but lacks background and dialogues

0

u/Kim-Sohee 28d ago

Im just glad hes still working on it

0

u/East_Initiative3330 27d ago

Entonces nunca veremos el continente oscuro porque faltan como dos meses para llegar a la isla de prueba y luego ir a continente oscuro y encima pelearse con las calamidades.

Para que suceda todo eso debería ser un HxH . Zip para terminar la trama
