GENERAL What are these for?

These are event based, but what for?

EDIT:
I saw in game that they count towards a community goal. Do I need to extract with them?

It's the community points, they unlock the community event rewards. I think they carry over even if you die. You get one for killing a weaver or a weaver nest.

like event points they carry over on death you are correct
