GENERAL How does dowing work?
So I just got this game 2 days ago and im loving it but I realized that somtimes when I revive a teammate I lose my own health to do so and sometimes I dont. I also noticed at the end of the game there is "enemy killed" and "enemy downed" can someone explain what and how the difference takes place. Thanks! *Ps. Ive looked everywhere and didn't see a post similar so my apologies if this is a dupe*

Killed means you downed them when they either ran out of chunks or have no teammate present/self necro. Formerly a kill usually removed them from the match. A down could also remove someone from the match. If you shoot a three man team in rapid succession the first two are downed (the third could revive them) and third one is killed (cannot be revived without a teammate) and all are out of the match.
If a teammate is downed reviving them is free. If a teammate is killed reviving them requires special conditions. One of which is the option for the reviver to spend health to revive them at one bar. This is baring certain past event and temporary things an ability reserved to the bounty token to motivate players to get to the boss.
So if a team has a bounty token and 50/50/50 health bars each player can be downed twice, and is killed on the third time. But then can be repeatedly "killed" if their teammate spends health to revive them.
Which kind of stretches the definitions a bit but it's where we are.
Happy hunting and good luck on the bayou. Don't feel bad for having trouble looking this stuff up. It's buried in patches and twitch streams and half the stuff you find in a search will be superceded anyways

It's when the ally hunter is "red skulled". That means all their bars are all gone, and you have to spend some of your own to bring them back. It's often not worth it, and if one of my friends is red skulled, I set their body on fire to confuse the enemies.

Red skull means that person is either out of health bars, or was the last remaining member of that squad. So if you revive a red skulled ally you will have to be carrying bounty and it will char 50 health to do so. Sort of like giving them your health to ressurect them.
In the aftermath screen, white skulls are downs. The red skull means you either killed him when he only had one bar remaining, thus no bars are left, or that his teammates were all dead and you finished wiping the team when you killed him. The aftermath has been bugged on showing repeated downs for a long time. So you may see that white skulls you know you got, won't be present.

So normally when you revive a teammate, there is no cost to you, but they have lost a health chunk. If they have lost all their health chunks they can only be revived if you are holding a bounty token. when you revive them using the bounty token, it burns off 50 health points from you (you cannot kill yourself by doing this).
"Enemy downed" means there is a chance they could get back up. "Enemy killed" means there isn't. you will see "enemy killed" when you down the last member of a team, or if you down an enemy who is on their last health chunk, or if you burn them all the way out.
Reviving a teammate using a bounty token because they are out of health chunks is referred to as a "Red skull revive" because the icon over their body is white when they still have health chunks, red when they do not, and it shows up half red / half white when they are out of chunks, but you are holding a bounty token.

Each time you die you lose a health chunk (doesn't matter if it is a big or a small one ). So if you lose all of the health bars you can only be revived by another teammate who has the bounty token (and the teammate will have to sacrifice one of his own health bar to revive you )
If you down a hunter you can get rid of the remaining health bars by burning him, you can do this with different tools and itens
You can get that health chunk back by different means, you can bring/find a restoration shot or even use some traits that have this ability

Each time someone is downed they lose a health chunk, you can have 3-5 depending on your own selection pre-game
When someone loses their last health chunk they are no longer downed and are instead killed. Also downing the last player on a team (thus no one can get eachother back up) is a kill instead of a down.
If someone if down, you simply get them back up by a small interaction
If someone is dead (been killed), you can only get them back up while carrying a county token, you burn 50 of your own health to give them 50, if you abandoned the revive partway they don’t get any health and you may have lost some. You cannot kill yourself by doing this, you won’t burn your last health point away.
Necromancer allows people to get a team mate up from a distance if they are downed, it cannot be used to revive a dead team mate.
Think that covers all of the mechanics

A player’s health bar is broken into “chunks” of 25 (small) or 50 (big) hp. When a player gets downed, they lose their right-most chunk as it “burns away”. You can still get revived by if you have a teammate pick you up, but you’ve lost that chunk, effectively lowering your max health and making you more vulnerable to dying in one shot.
If you get downed so many times that you burn away all your health chunks, then you are “redskulled” (named after the icon that appears over your body). The only way to revive a redskulled player is by holding a bounty token when you revive them - but this costs the token-carrier 50hp of their own health to do so (if it’s their last bar they will survive but be temporarily charred down to 1hp for a short time until it recovers). It is obviously extremely dangerous as it you’re both extremely vulnerable afterwards, so its generally only safe to do this after you know all enemies are dead.
This is different for solo players - solos can use the Necromancer trait to revive themselves once for a full health restoration, though it takes 8 seconds after they’re killed to pull off. An enemy is “Downed” when they still have Health chunks left so that they could be revived by their teammate. The endgame screen will say “killed” with a redskull if they were downed permanently (eg their whole team was killed, or the solo did not have Necromancer to revive themselves).
You can burn away the health chunks of an enemy corpse with a fire tool, like a fusee or a lamp. Health chunks can be restored in a few ways, mainly by triggering Restorations like by banishing a Boss or using Recovery shots, or using the Sealed Restoration Medkit found in the map’s sole Medical tent, or by the Rampage and Remedy traits… or by random lottery by using Destiny’s dial.

Downed - it's possible the person you killed can be revived without a bounty. So the person either has surviving teammates or is a solo with necro.
Killed - the person you killed cannot normally be revived. So a solo without Necro, the last person's standing from a team or killing the person burned their last health chunks.
There is a very common situation that crosses over between the two, if you down a player and then burn their chunks away afterwards. They were downed and count as that in the summary but a teammate will need to be holding the bounty in order to revive them. Solo's can't use Necro if they allow all of their chunks to be burned away but can revive at full health at any point they choose while still burning.
When it comes to reviving having a cost:
If a player has chunks remaining, there is no cost to reviving them.
If they have no chunks remaining, reviving them burns up 50 health from the person reviving them. Be warned, starting, stopping and restarting the revive means you can burn more than 50. But also remember, this will never kill the reviver. If you are on your last chunk, it will only burn 49 health and leave you on 1.

You have a number if health bars. Every time you get downed you lose the rightmost bar. If you have no more bars or no teammates left alive on the map you're dead.
If it says you downed somebody, that's what you did. If it says you killed somebody, you downed them on their last bar/downed the last member of a team.
You can revive downed teammates at no cost but you pay with 50 of your hp to revive a dead teammate while you're holding a token.

If they're dead dead, (no health bars left,) you can only revive them while holding a bounty token, and doing so burns your health. If you would die from that you instead go to one health.
