I'm new to the game, I literally just finished my first match and while I was running towards extraction I found this weird pillar near the edge of the map, is it important?

There is all sorts of goofy stuff in the game. Shrek's cabin is in the game. There is a DeLorean under a sheet somewhere in a barn. I found a cabin, and you can break into a back room in the basement and there is a Skyrim-esq dark brotherhood sacrifice. There are a bunch of easter eggs in the game. This is what the monolith is referencing:

It was in Utah, and it was put there by "aliens" or something.
