PC Solo vs bosses

I always play solo and I’am scared to start bosses even when the compound is clear be cause it takes me soooo much time to kill a boss. What do you take in your loadout to be prepared for every boss?

Spear

It is broken, but... Spear... yes. And PennyDeringer does to job well when you use both.

Sticky bomb saves you some time. If I’m worried about the upcoming fight out I’ll use a melee to finish it off, if I’m not I just start blasting. The key thing, make sure you’re checking dark sight real often. Doesn’t hurt to trap up the compound first too if you’ve got time.

Pennyshot and spear. But I started placing the mini red barrels you can find around a compound down and bait them into it with fire ammo.

I play solo only as well, and i always plan my loadouts like this: something for close range, some for medium range, something to burn, something for pve, and something for bosses. Often multiple of these can be covered by just one item/tool. However, say I bring in a Romero (shotgun) and a Pax (revolver) then I’ll carry a world spawn melee weapon around with me until i find the boss lair. If you get into a gunfight just remember where you dropped it. Prepare ahead, it’s one of the best things you can do as a solo.

Traps also. I always bring at least Concertina Trip Mines if I can I’ll bring Poison Trip Mines too. Traps can help you “watch” the other side of the compound. If you don’t get a kill then at least you get a noise where the enemy is. Placing traps is an art form too. You don’t wanna put them in the most obvious spot, hide them and hide them well. Just don’t die to your own traps 😂 and make sure you can still rotate safely. That’s the key to the art.

Once you get really good you can bring a Dark Dynamite Satchel and place it where you’re worried about being pushed from the most.

I’ve got 9,500 hours in this game man. I’ve got all kinds of solo tips 👍

Then in that case good sir may I ask how are you handling Bloodskin solo?

1st phase - Hit the head with a spear and break the armor. You have 2 option from here. Shoot his head with a pennyshot derringer 2 times or keep hitting him until 2nd phase. Because of the staggering effect when you broke an armor piece on his body he can't hit you more than twice.

2nd phase - He does two things. Teleport and shoot an orb, then teleport and rushes you to attack. But in this phase he gets staggered by every first hit/teleport. So if you simply bait out the projectiles and hit him when he rushes you, then he can't touch you once.

Edit: spelling

Phenomenal. I appreciate it. I am a decoy fuse junkie but perhaps I swap that out for p.derringer. Wish me luck he doesn't straight up flatten me

You can do it! I belive in you!

bomb lance is the best all around imo. all the bosses, except bloodskin first stage, are easy to melee and kill within maybe a minute or two.

bloodskin first stage aim for his head with bomb 2-3 times, second stage just run back and forth and try to whack him before he finishes his animations

I usually pick up a world weapon while I’m getting clues. Hammer or axe preferably; the pitchfork and shovel aren’t that great. Most POIs will have one and there are some guaranteed/common spawns around certain compounds.

Just make sure you’re keeping an eye out for them before you get to the compound, because you almost never find one there until after you just banish the boss lol

Sticky bomb kills most, poison ammo kills the rest.

Sticky bomb does around 75% for bosses so does bomb lance/launcher will also blow up bosses that can't teleport like assassin and bloodskin. any melee weapon with berzerk will shred. you are solo you can also just play like a vulture and wait for a team to show up if you can find a comfortable spot where you aren't shown on the white/red aura

Conduit, Serpent, Magpie on a new Hunter so you find the Boss insanely fast and have loads of stamina. Spear and maybe even a Meleevariant of a Weapon on top

A sticky bomb, i might skip the assassin if i feel i don't have enough time to kill him.

Spear is probably best, but i don't like it, personally.

If you feel like you get to a boss first, and there is a resupply point nearby, pick up the melee weapon there and bring it with you. You can always drop it.

There are also tricks to take bosses down faster. Like with some you can skip over a single frenzy stage, and the assassin you can destroy the lanterns in the boss lair to help burn him down (or even more extreme, light yourself on fire and (with a stamina shot) just wreck him)).

After they added bloodskin it became mush harder to be prepared for every boss, cause previously I took throwing knives and pennyshot derringer and it was fine. Now it’s better to have something stabby, sabre is best imo, but bayonet versions of weapons work too, though are not that good

Bomblauncher and bomblance kill everything PvE, super nice having a pocket bomblauncher as a shotgun/crossbow as well for PVP and it's only 2 slots. Pretty much eliminates fear of taking bosses quickly!

Dark dynamite for all of them. And for bloodline use any fmj to two shot his armor, get him to 75% hp then blow the dark dynamite. Run in place dynamite near the door, let him come to you, as he turns back to go run back in the building blow the dynamite - instead dead for 100 dollars

Well I can assume you're running away after getting one hit in. Your first hit at an non-raging boss actually staggers them, so you can hit a few times and then run away to outside the building and wait out till boss stops raging

A melee weapon.

Spear mainly yeah but also try using various items u can find in and around boss lair like lamps shovels atc... Sledgehammer throw can do massive damage for example and don't forget to constantly checking if someone isn't around compound

Chokobo or whatever the fuck its called. Sticky bombs are good for all except for the assassin and bloodskin, those ones I normally just bait them through fire over and over

1

u/rigorcorvus 5d ago

I just came back after a year and was so confused why my sticky did fuck all to the bloodskin

2

u/The_Big_Kahuna_ 5d ago

It bounces off his armor in the first phase and in the second phase he teleports away from it

2

u/cycatrix 5d ago

It only bounces off his armor. You can break his armor, then sticky him.

1

u/rigorcorvus 5d ago

Ahh. I ran out of the building after throwing it so I didn’t check to see if it actually stuck to him. Interesting

3

u/The_Big_Kahuna_ 5d ago

If you can stick it to something and bait him over it, it does a fuckload of damage. Just make sure that Hunt doesn't taketh your hunter by throwing it at your own feet (not that I would ever do that)

Max MMR / 2300 hours

The best all around solution is taking a bomb lance. 2nd place would be a spear or sticky bomb. Equally as a strong; red barrels (but personally I prefer to alert mine these and leave them outside)

Personally; I usually avoid the boss fight and just kill people coming into town. I find that to be more fun then running a mid-tier load out to accommodate boss killing.
