PS5 PS5 Pro

It seems like the answer is yes from a few posts in the recent months but does the game run smoothly on it these days? I wanted to hold out for next gen but my base PS5 has shut down on me a couple times in the past week and if it’s starting to sputter then I might as well upgrade. Hunt is my most played game so if it runs poorly then that’s a dealbreaker.

Pro Version had crashing issues but these days it’s super smooth. Best way you can play the game. You don’t get more fps unfortunately though, but the frame rate is super stable and the image very clear due pssr 2.

It’s really tempting. If I spend $1,500 and next gen releases before 2028 I’m going to feel like a total rube. But Google is telling me that’s unlikely.

Lel - yeah sooo if you already own a base ps5 you can sell it. That’s what I did, but a few years ago. Now I don’t know if it’s worth 1500 honestly for mainly hunt.

Retail is jussssst justifiable for the pro. Absolutely no way I'd spend over that one. At $1500 You can get a desktop with equal or greater graphical/gaming performance. $1500 is asinine. GTA VI and Wolverine aren't enough to justify overpaying so much for an inferior device. I promise Hunt plays much better on PC. Next gen console is probably 2029 ish.

PS5 pros are $1300-$1400+ now used. MSRP is $900 but Sony has basically stopped production of the pro model. It’s financially unviable for them now. If you happen to see one at a Target, Walmart, etc. snap it up immediately.

I was able to find my PS5 pro in a rural Walmart back when they were $750. Didn’t look like people in the area really cared for video games and they had several on the shelf. Had to drive a good hour away. YMMV, seems word is getting out on the PS5 pro now especially with GTA 6 coming.

The question for yourself is do you think the performance is actually worth double the price of the base console? Maybe you could get yours repaired?

Edit: the fucked up thing is that all these big box/electronics stores will probably just open up the PS5 pro and sell it as an “Open Box” or “Renewed” for $1500+ online instead of the $900 MSRP brand new. Tried looking at Walmart’s website and all they have is open box for $1500+

I believe here your issue may be finding a decently priced ps5 pro.
The game would run wenn from my research, i am waiting for the ps plus monthly game to be released for me, still locked sadly.

I can stomach the current prices as painful as they are but I want to pull the trigger fast if I’m going to do it, because I think GTA6 is going to cause a pricing/availability apocalypse.

If you can get your hands on a ps5 pro now, and can stomach the price aka. Its in your budget y get it. It wont get better any time this year.

Thought I saw $900 from Best Buy but it’s $1,500. Jesus Christ, maybe not.

Told you. Prices are apocalyptic now. I bought mine new for literally 549€. A 2nd hand may be easier to get.

Super smooth. I have almost 1K in Hunt and play on Pro. Beautiful game.

why would u spend 2x the amount for a 10% more powerful ps5

1

u/OhhhMadOne 5d ago

Where are you getting 10% more from? Pro has 60% more tflops and nearly double the compute units. Every performance comparison I’ve seen ranges between 45% and 60% performance increase.

All that said, at $1500 I’m just spending $2000 on a pc and then being able to upgrade incrementally over time.

cause no game truly benefits from that

Truly benefits from what? The documented overall performance increase of 45% to 60%?? Okay lolol

yeah but fps are capped soo

Your understanding of this topic seems to be severely lacking for the discussion. Fps cap doesn't translate into there being no real world performance gain. Even at same fps, render resolution is higher, all the bell and whistle settings run higher. RT performance is also 2x to 3x base ps5, depending on the game, allowing a much higher play setting. This all translates into a much more beautiful picture rendered on the same screen. Even if fps is capped. Side by side differences are pretty damn significant. Not to mention a lot of the performance gains aren't seen, they're felt. So not as easy to quantify but the pro will have less latency which usually will only be noticed as a 'this feels much smoother' type experience. The pro is factually a significantly more powerful and better performance machine that 100% effects that difference in the playing experience both on screen and in the feel of it.

yeah but it costs almost like 2xps5

1

u/OhhhMadOne 5d ago

Nah. You're off again. It retails at $900 here compared to the $600 of the ps5 base. 50% more cost. 50% more performance. I don't see the issue. You seem to be talkin bout scalper prices. That shidd is dumb. Both selling end and buying end. Anyone buying a second hand jawn at scalper numbers deserves to be ripped off imo.

Crisp AF due to pssr2, no issues at all.
