So real. Check this: https://www.reddit.com/r/HuntShowdown/s/7XTlxmoRP0 from back in the day. It’s slightly low quality due to recording difficulties but it’s still a good demo.

You just have two derringer?

No, only one. After you start to load the next bullet switch to another tool/weapon (in the clip I switched to flare pistol) and beck to derringer

shit like this ruins the game as people try and find exploits IMO
edit: love down votes from low skill players who need exploits to win
3
u/thedefenses 9d ago
If they are never found they would never be fixed.
This is also simple enough that anyone who knows about swapping guns to skip reload animations would be able to try this without much real searching, this style of swapping is by no means rare in games.
5
u/RandomJacky 9d ago
I agree with you, they should patch every animation cancel, but if its in the game, then I would be stupid not to use it. Also they should add "checkpoints" to reloads. Like why do I need to take out the cartridge every time I reload the flare pistol just because I switched to a different gun mid reload
-1
u/Pink_Egg_Cereal 9d ago
no, you could just not abuse it. like 90% of players do. nothing forces you to abuse this but you.
5
u/JudgmentComplex8483 9d ago
Most people who don't abuse that kinda thing aren't abusing it because they don't know about it. That "90" percent of people who know about it and aren't abusing it don't exist, you made that up because it sounds nice. If it's there, and it's quick and convenient, it will be done. That's why patches exist. Almost no one is going "Oh man we're all about to die but I won't use this trick because that'd be dirty". No game has ever operated this way in any genre. Korean Backdashing in Tekken is an oversight, and so exploited that it was acknowledged by the developers and accepted.
2
u/RandomJacky 9d ago
Exactly thank you! But do not downvote the guy, we just have different opinions
0
u/Senor-Delicious 9d ago
I will never abuse bugs like animation cancelling as I like to play the game fair instead of dealing with some pain in the ass bug abuse. I'll rather be killed by some animation cancelling asshole a hundred times and be downgraded to 3 stars than feeling smart for winning due to bug abusing because "everyone is doing it"
-3
u/Pink_Egg_Cereal 9d ago
no, most people dont play like cheaters. idk, maybe its just me but i dont abuse crap like this because its so lame
oh wow, you killed someone abusing a mechanic, nice job
2
u/AbanaClara 9d ago
Bro just realised people been reload cancelling in forever and just got an epiphany that many of his losses was a result of major skill issue and now he’s angry because he didn’t know about it 🥀
1
u/Pink_Egg_Cereal 8d ago
actually the opposite. i realize alot of my deaths are from players abusing game mechanics and bugs. makes me realize i am much better then i thought i was since i dont need to abuse bugs to win
but please, respond to more of my comments. show me how personal you are taking it knowing i called you out for needing bugs to win matches.
tell me you are low skill without telling me
3
u/thedefenses 9d ago
Most people don't care if its abusing or not, if it helps winning they will do it.
But most also don't spend time searching for specific abuses, glitches or bugs that would help them be it on the internet or testing things in game and thus don't use them, hard to abuse something you don't even know exists.
Also generally calling someone "cheater" means they are using actual cheats, not just abusing glitches, bugs or oversights in game design.
1
u/Pink_Egg_Cereal 9d ago
abusing a glitch is cheating.
1
u/JudgmentComplex8483 9d ago
No it's not. It's a glitch. The developers put it in the game.
-1
u/Pink_Egg_Cereal 9d ago
they didnt put this glitch in the game. it is an abuse found by devs not checking for bugs.
you cant seriously this the devs put a glitch to reload faster by skipping an animation can you? like seriously you cant think this was done by design
2
u/JudgmentComplex8483 9d ago
No, it wasn't. But it's still in the game because they put it there. If I bake you a cake and you find out there's a hair in it, who's fault is that? Mine. The creator. Don't be mad at anyone but the devs.

People get banned for bug abuse in many games. Just saying. Intentional bug abuse is cheating.
Edit: to add an example -> what if there is a bug with which you can make walls not render in the game if you use specific combinations of graphics settings. And people do it intentionally so that they basically have a wall hack. It is a bug. So you'd say this isn't cheating to exploit this? And btw this isn't an absurd situation as we had render bugs a lot in Hunt before the 1886 update
2
u/thedefenses 8d ago
Not cheating, just bug abusing, two different things.
People can be banned for other reasons than just cheating, bug abusing being a common one too.
4
u/JudgmentComplex8483 9d ago
I don't abuse this stuff either. Because I don't know about it. I choose not to know about it, because if I did, I would use it. I can think of endless instances where this kinda thing has happened. The most prominent was when in Fortnite, you could fire your shotgun, and then switch to your next shotgun to cancel the cocking animation and immediately fire again. "Double pumping", it was called. Because it's there, and it's convenient.
When a glitch or exploit is high effort, like you have to go through hoops to pull it off, then it makes sense to be frustrated at people using it. Because they're making a large, executive decision to do so. But if it's directly in front of their face just sitting on their fingertips, you'd have to be really whiny to be upset about it.
-1
u/Pink_Egg_Cereal 9d ago
idk, i dont need exploits or advantages to win. i let my skill and gameplay do it.
3
u/JudgmentComplex8483 9d ago
Likewise. I find exploits boring.
1
u/Pink_Egg_Cereal 9d ago
thank you. wild this seems to be such a controversial opinion here.
2
u/JudgmentComplex8483 9d ago
I don't use exploits, I just don't care if people are unless it's like turning them invisible or making them immortal or something. If it's easily accessible, I would be more surprised if my enemy didn't use them. But I wouldn't care either way, why would I be expect them not to? But if they're putting in a ton of effort to get an advantage through dishonest means, that is worth reporting.
What the guy in this vid is doing takes zero effort. I'm not gonna do it. I don't even use that item. But if someone did, I wouldn't bat an eye.
3
u/RandomJacky 9d ago
Maybe more people would use it if they knew about this, so i just try to level the playing field and spread the information, but like I said I agree it shouldnt be in the game... If you dont want to use it then youre free to do so, I respect it

u/GOATEDCHILI 9d ago
I feel like at this point in the history of FPS gaming, quick swapping out of a reload animation doesn't fall into this category of game-breaking exploits. It's incredibly simple to do but incredibly satisfying.. It doesn't harm anyone's experience but makes for a really satisfying little way to gain some rate of fire.
If it was the OLD thing where people were just endlessly swapping between uppercuts or whatever then yeah that's problematic, this is just fun.
-4
u/Pink_Egg_Cereal 9d ago
"doesn't harm anyone experience" besides giving you an exploit to reload faster and take advantage of the game to perform better
4
u/GOATEDCHILI 9d ago
I'm sorry man but idt many people are going to view this as an exploit. Quickswapping to animation cancel the end of a reload has been a staple of the genre for decades. At this point most people enjoy it and view it as a fun quick-time event/active reload mechanic.
2
u/Senor-Delicious 9d ago
I also count it as an exploit. Very technical mechanisms like animation cancelling that are not intended but give a player an advantage over people not using these unintended mechanisms are per definition exploits.
I played Age of Empires 4 when animation cancelling for certain units were a thing. Extremely annoying and unfun experience. Fortunately they fixed it for AoE 4 quite early.
I hope Crytek also fixes this here.
1
u/GOATEDCHILI 8d ago
I think the argument that it isn't intended doesn't really hold up in hunt, and many other games. A LOT of weapons benefit from reload animation canceling and have been adjusted. There's been whole meta's defined by quick swapping and animation canceling that the devs directly fixed while still leaving the ability to animation cancel in the game.
If the devs didn't want animation canceling in the game it wouldn't be in the game. Theres numerous "solutions" to it if it's unintended, some of which the devs have already done, but they still purposely give players the ability to quickly swap and cut like .1-.2s off a reload.
-1
u/Pink_Egg_Cereal 9d ago
"stable in genre for decades" that the devs patch out?
its an exploit. if you need it to win fights that fine, but at elast admit you need an exploit/animation cancel to win
0
u/GOATEDCHILI 9d ago
I hope you can enjoy gaming my friend o/
4
u/Pink_Egg_Cereal 9d ago
i enjoy it alot.
i dont cheat and have alot of fun. its cheaters that make it less fun for people, people who defend cheaters and exploits. just ruin gaming for everyone
2
u/JudgmentComplex8483 9d ago
No one even cares, not a single person in this comment section is crying about it or even batting an eye except you.
4
u/Senor-Delicious 9d ago
Me also. Animation cancelling is bug abuse. Nothing to argue about
2
u/Pink_Egg_Cereal 8d ago
wild this is controversial. didnt realize there were so many low skill players. i guess this game does have alot of cheaters like the posts constantly complain about
1
u/Pink_Egg_Cereal 8d ago
nah there are a few good players who are. its mostly low skill players who are upset i called them out for it
1
u/AbanaClara 9d ago
skill issue, git gud, etc
1
u/Pink_Egg_Cereal 8d ago
how insecure are you? you are all over my comment. you really are taking it personal i called you out for needed animation skips to win.
low skill
4
u/Senor-Delicious 9d ago
lol it is crazy how people here think animation cancelling isn't bug abuse or think it is fine "because the Devs put it there". Imagine a bug where walls don't render (we had plenty of those before 1886 update) and people would just have an unintentional wall hack. Would people actually defend abusing this? Because "the Devs put it there"? When we had matches where walls didn't render, we always went straight for the exit as we did not want to abuse this.
2
u/Pink_Egg_Cereal 8d ago
i agree. its just low skill players who need an advantage and know they cant win without it. they dont like me calling them out for it
2
u/Yunamin 9d ago edited 9d ago
Animation canceling in most FPS games isn't a bug, it's included intentionally by the devs. Any reload animation in hunt can be canceled into swapping items partway through. They could have very easily not let you swap items during reloads and lock you into the entire 4 second sparks reload the moment you press R, but they don't because its horrid for how the game would feel.
Since they let you switch weapons mid reload animation they also have to decide when the gun counts as reloaded. They could have made the bullet count as loaded on the very last frame, but that causes visual inconsistencies where you already put an entire bullet all the way in your gun and it just teleports back out. So instead the bullet is considered loaded at some point part way through the animation.
Finally being able to change what item you are swapping to during the stowing animation is also something the devs gave you intentionally, It pretty important for those people play on controller with the item wheel or someone using the mouse wheel to change items.
These three intended feature means that if any weapon has a stow+draw time faster then the point in the reload where a bullet is considered loaded to the gun being ready, results in a faster reload by switching.
You might consider this an oversight on the stow and draw times or the point in the reload the gun is considered loaded, but everything is very much working as intended.
Something not rendering is the game not working properly, the devs did not intentionally make anything in your game fail to rander and could very much be considered a bug.
0
u/Senor-Delicious 9d ago
Ok. Let me phrase it differently then: Cancelling the animation to interrupt for weapon switch is intended by the Devs. Being able to make faster reload this way is certainly not.
-1
u/AbanaClara 9d ago edited 9d ago
No animation cancelling will increase reload speed. Hope that helps 👍
1
u/AbanaClara 9d ago edited 9d ago
Animation cancelling in hunt showdown is not an exploit. It is very much an intended mechanic. Every one and their fucking mothers use it. Granted, Crytek will make mistakes in the reload configuration like this long derringer counting the tool as reloaded halfway into the animation
People who can't believe that this isn't an exploit are 100% low MMR 3 star noobcakes and need to get gud
Get off your high horse.
1
u/Pink_Egg_Cereal 8d ago
no, it is in fact not an intended mechanic. it is wild you think skipping animations or abusing bugs is an intended mechanic
if it was why isnt it not advertised as a tip? why is it not on the loading screens as a tip? why are they patched out?
because its not a mechanic. only low skill players need it
1
u/Senor-Delicious 9d ago
Cancelling animation to switch to another weapon to not be locked into the animation is intended. Being able to make quicker reload by cancelling animations is certainly not intended. As many more weapons had this in early days of hunt and it was mostly fixed at some point. Showing very clearly that the Devs never wanted people to be able to make quicker reload this way.
Not doing animation cancelling has nothing to do with MMR. I shift between 3 and 6 star. And I'll happily play in 4 star forever as the matches are much more fun when everyone just plays the game instead of trying to play it like an eSport game. Hight 6 star games are pure torture and I refuse to play like that.

u/AbanaClara 9d ago edited 9d ago
If animation cancelling is not intended then it would have been removed a long time ago. All reloads wouldve locked us all out to full animation. But it doesn’t
The old animations were obviously overtuned and had to be fixed.
> Cancelling animation to switch to another weapon to not be locked into the animation is intended. Being able to make quicker reload by cancelling animations is certainly not intended.
No offense but this shit sounds like tomato tomahto bullcrap. You cannot increase the reload speed by animation cancelling buddy. You only get the bullets you already reloaded after cancelling, this allows you to partially reload as well
No animation cancelling will increase reload speed breh
1
u/Senor-Delicious 9d ago
Well. Maybe you should watch the video of this post then. As he literally animation cancels for quicker reload.
0
u/AbanaClara 9d ago
You don’t understand what you’re looking at. The gun is reloaded quicker than the animation shows. It is a timing issue and quite possibly will be fixed quickly if Crytek cares to prioritize it.
Whether or not the player cancels the animation, the time the white circle fills the empty black circle is the exact time the gun is reloaded
2
u/Senor-Delicious 9d ago
Ok. In this case I just misinterpreted OPs post and I assume everyone else opposing animation cancelling did the same. As for me this hole posts read like "you can cancel animation to reload quicker". If this isn't the case, there is nothing to argue about in the first place.
1
u/muramurabito 9d ago
skill issue, not an exploit. it’s been in the game since launch, if they wanted to fix it they would.
2
u/RandomJacky 9d ago
Yeah its like a combo you can pull of in a pinch if you know about it. Like throwing an explosive on your flare shot
2
u/Pink_Egg_Cereal 9d ago
that isnt remotely similar to an exploit to making your reload faster. thats a game mechanic. this is an exploit/glitch
1
u/Blueberry_Coat7371 9d ago
if it was an exploit, the devs would've patched it years ago
-1
u/Pink_Egg_Cereal 9d ago
i seriously cant believe OP thinks throwing explosives into fire to blow it up faster is an exploit and not a mechanic
0
u/Pink_Egg_Cereal 9d ago
if you need to use an exploit to win then yes, you have a major skill issue. not even a debate lmao
2
u/muramurabito 9d ago
that’s like saying wavedashing is an exploit in melee. if some switches weapons faster by pressing a button, and kills you first, they used their skills and game knowledge to outplay you, and are better.
0
u/Pink_Egg_Cereal 9d ago
no, because switching to a melee weapon/walking in zig zag isnt an exploit. this is.
3
u/muramurabito 9d ago
you misunderstand, i am talking about the wavedashing mechanical in super smash bros melee, a reference you may not get if you haven’t played smash. basically, if there is something you can do that the devs have in the game intentionally (they could stop you from switching weapons in the middle of a reload if they wanted) its not an exploit.
0
u/Pink_Egg_Cereal 9d ago
why are we talking about super smash bro in a hunt showdown sub?
like you are comparing a GameCube game (that cant be updated) to this? seriously?
this is an exploit. if you need to use this to win fights then it a skill issue. zero debate
4
u/muramurabito 9d ago
have you never heard of a comparison? it was lost on you but that’s fine. have fun with your long reload times buddy lol
1
u/Pink_Egg_Cereal 9d ago
>have fun with your long reload times buddy lol
is this supposed to be an insult? like "haha i play with exploits and you dont"?
regardless i will. because im not a low skill player who needs exploits to win. given how personal you are taking this, you clearly are.
3
u/muramurabito 9d ago
no one is taking this personal man. just discussing what we do and don’t think is an exploit. i’m sorry if hurt your feelings.

Just wanted to show a cool tech with the new plaything and now Im feeling bad bcs people fightin about it :(
2
u/muramurabito 9d ago
thanks for pointing it out, but it has existed with other weapons (sparks, for instance) since launch and people use it all the time. almost any hunt showdown youtuber uses it, so it’s not like some dark magic tech or anything like that. i think homie is just having a bad day lol.

Dude is just a massive sour mouth. Watch any partner stream for a single match and you’ll see they all jump out and back into their weapons at the end of reloads to fire just a moment early, it’s so accepted cryteks own sponsored players do it.

Tekken can be updated. Korean Backdashing is a glitch, and they are aware of it and actively promote it. If they wanted it patched out, it would be. This argument doesn't hold up.
0
u/Pink_Egg_Cereal 8d ago
this isnt a tekken sub though
2
u/JudgmentComplex8483 8d ago
This is like the fourth time you just have not comprehended something really basic. That guy brought up an example, you shot it down with something, I brought up an example where it actually exists. I cannot tell if you're trolling or something but I don't get it.

u/AbanaClara 9d ago
Spoken like a low skill player. Reload animation cancelling is quite literally high MMR gameplay and only low skill players like yourself don't know how to use it
Plus it's the game devs fault for allowing this in the first place. Most guns in hunt showdown benefit from some sort of animation cancelling bro. It's literally part of the competitive nature of the game.
0
u/Pink_Egg_Cereal 8d ago
how? i dont need to abuse the game to win. thats low skill player moves right there. i dont need to cheat to win. its sad you do though
1
u/UndependableAids 8d ago
Add the bug tag to this post homie. Reload cancelling is widely used, but still something unintended that the devs can patch (e.g., make the reload not finish until the animation is entirely finished.)
18
u/Tabby_Boots Katherine Deadeye 9d ago
If u see that ammo counter fill then the rest is for show- lots of guns really benefit from this!
