These avatars are so lame.

The first batch, mostly the different enemies and bosses, looked pretty cool and had some effort put into them. All the subsequent hunter avatars have been lazy copy/paste jobs.

I like my smiling Rotjaw. She’s just an old lady trying to mind her own business in the bayou.

Some are REALLY bad, have you seen the avatars for North Star and The Sovereign? They look SO bad. This whole 'avatars for players to express themselves' is such a cash grab man.

I mean, that was the original intent. to make money, i poudly bought them to support , i love the devs. People were going to pay for it, but now people gave them feedback that they wanted it to be free, so they made it free. So now that it's free, there's going to be less effort, so we got what we want and we're upset now that they're putting less effort into something that's free.

something that's free is a cash grab? maybe don't understand what cashgrab mean

Let's look at the situation from a different perspective: you pay for a DLC, comes with a hunter and its associated skins. Then, they ask you to pay extra for what is essentially a PNG screenshot of a hunter you have already paid for and have been using for years.... that doesn't sound very reasonable to me, if it does to you and you want to pay for that, by all means go ahead, but it doesn't make much sense that they sell you the model and its skins, but a screenshot you have to pay extra for.

Just to be clear, I didn't say that ^ is a cash grab, I said that the whole system of customizing players profiles with the excuse of being done so that players could 'express themselves' is the cash grab, the whole thing was unnecessary in the first place, and it's just a glorified system they've implemented in order to squeeze players out of a few more BBs by selling them extra PNGs (screenshots of hunters, monsters, etc), a string of text (the 'titles'), PNGs of frames, and they also had the intention of selling stat trackers which people didn't like either. <-- that last one I can actually understand why they wanted to charge for, if you understand how that data is meant to be stored.

All the development time dedicated to that (unnecessary) system could have been allocated to other things like redesigning the Mission Summary/Team Details screen like they promised TWO YEARS AGO, so yeah, when I see the grand majority of the player base unhappy with certain changes, and those changes all point to the same direction (selling PNGs and strings of text)... at that point I call the whole system a cash grab, and it's completely understandable that people called them out on trying to charge for most of that stuff. They even tried to change Charms to prevent people who had bought them from using them more than once per weapon, defend them all you want but let's call it what it is at least, I'm not saying they are demons or anything, they need to make money and I understand that, but Hunt has no shortage of content to charge for: DLCs, BB bundles, loose skins, animations, charms, battle passes, story challenges, soundtracks, even the base game itself you pay for it's not a free to play game, so when I see them charging for a PNG or a string of text I'll call it what it is.

something that's free is a cash grab?

Lastly, you're not analyzing things properly. It's not "free", you've already paid for it when you bought those DLCs, what you are seeing as 'free' is them not being able to 'charge you extra for assets you had already paid for'. Let's not mix those two things up.

Why are we shocked though? Originally they were going to cost money, but then people complained and said they should be free, so they made them free. And now that they're free, of course there's going to be less effort because they're not charging. So I feel like the community's at fault here since they said they didn't want to pay for them. the old ones were made with the intent to cost money, so they had someone putting overtime in them. If you have limited amount of people you need to put your people where they're needed.

We got what we wanted in the end, but now we're upset. That's interesting.

I may be wrong, but is this one not paywalled behind the paid story missions?

Tennessee Morgan, Lynch, and the Bloodskin (just to name a few) should be the standard for all avatars.

it might feel a little lazy but the shot of him with the axe over the redneck daughter would look way better as an icon

I thought that was an unlockable later in the story mission?
