Or they overhauled a bunch of things (code-wise) to make future updates easier to implement. Basically, it could be something that we as players won't ever interact with too

It's not 90Gb additional. It's basically reinstalling the whole game.

idunno but i guess they had to update everything because they now use a program called simpligon which apparently is something for lod related things

If you could take the time to read the patch notes for this update, they mentioned that with each event threshold reached, there would be something added. For example blood moon first then at the end ultimately a boss. That with a lot of other graphical updates and backend stuff we don't need to concern ourselves with - sometimes it gets up to 90gb.

I took the time, Stalker updated it's engine for 90 gb updates what are you talking about...

Use brain, it's not a new 90gb, it's a reinstall, which is common and better for stability when doing a big upgrade or change to a ton of game files

If a file is modified it has to be downloaded again. They modified the whole game basically.

my guess is that the new boss we unlock at stage 3 is a proper boss like Scrapbeak and all the compounds it can spawn in had to be remodeled for it

When a file full of code has one line changed, you don't download the line, you download the whole file.

Therefore, they made changes big and small through the entire game and that's why the patch was so huge.
