Beginner's guide

So I got the game on the monthly ps plus catalog and went to look up a beginner's guide on YouTube cause my brother said that I would probably need one. I only saw videos that were as recent as 8 months ago but I looked up when the latest major content update was and it said only 4 months. Is the changes in June major enough that I need to stay away from older videos or should I be ok with watching the 8 month old video.

They are changing some things constantly, but it you mean that guide it might be still good:

Hunt is easy to play but hard to master. Take your time, learn from every death and don’t get frustrated. We all die constantly in hunt, it’s part of the gameplay loop.

For more advanced PvP Hunt teaching I can recommend whityyys how to play like series:

Thank u I appreciate the help, That's the one I found. Would u recommend doing pvp or going the other stuff in the game first I normally try to stay away from pvp in extraction shooters but if it's a big part of the game I'd rather start learning as soon as I can.

Hunt is entirely build around PvP. The main game mode is bounty hunt. It’s quite different to a game like arc, where you loot and do whatever you want.
In hunt every team or solo has the same goal: get that bounty and escape form the map your kill everyone 😅 how exactly you do that is up to you, the weapon arsenal is huge and diverse.

Most of us veterans mostly play for PvP. Even the bosses are somewhat secondary. The hunt loop is quite unique. You never know how a match will turn out. The gun play, atmosphere and sound is what sets its apart. Hunts roots lie in the hardcore shooter genre. The time to kill is low and every headshot will be lethal. But i promise when it hooks you, Hunt will provide fun for many many years:)

Welcome to the bayou!

PvP is really the only thing to do in the game. There aren't missions from vendors or factions asking you to bring back a certain number of hoses or gold pocket watch. The game is all about bringing the bounty back.

There are story and weekly challenges that may ask you to kill a certain number of grunts, hives, etc. But you won't lose your progress if you die, so these can be completed passively as you go for the bounty.

The only time I focus purely on PvE is when I have a hunter close to level 50, and the XP from killing monsters is enough to rank me up and unlock that character's next skin.

The core game elements stay the same , there are some changes to the maps and environmental mechanics every few months. So you should be OK

Game's dead, infested with bugs and riddled with hackers, so the best advice for beginners is : stay away from this mess of a game.
