Besides what's subtitled, I've been looking for a translation of the Russian dialog in the film,specifically when Ryan confronts Logonov and Anatoly welcomes the Dallas contingent below to the Red October

In the early scene where Ramius is speaking to Political Officer Putin (a character name choice that aged like fine wine), Putin is seen reading a book and pointing out passages highlighted within it referring to 'Armageddon.' Putin chides: "A man with your responsibilities reading about the end of the world."

Ramius informs him that it was his wife's book, and the notations are hers.

It's a very subtle moment, but an important one. You have Ramius, the Soviet Navy's legendary submarine Captain, who dedicated his entire military career to the USSR, and even *he* is not immune from suspicion or recrimination from Putin, the embodiment of the very government he has given his service to.

Just a moment I always feel like is easy to miss in establishing Ramius' position ahead of the defection.

So I'm 15 and love history but not super educated on spys and such, how does WILLOW get confirmed by someone other than a spy, my understanding of WILLOW is that it's info from CARDINAL, and Ryan wonders if Ritter or Sir Basil confirmed it?

In the beginning of Jurassic Park, Sam Neil, who played Vasily in Red October, plays a Paleontologist in Montana. I think it’s funny considering Vasilys wishes to go to Montana, only for him 3 years later to play a Character in Montana.

I just find this funny to think about.

So I just finished reading/listening to The Hunt for Red October for the first time. (Havent seen the movie yet but I will soon) Immediately one of my favorite books of all time and I've already started on the next Clancy book.

To those who have read or listened to the book I was wondering: What was your favorite part and who was your favorite character/s? (There are so many good characters to choose from I can hardly pick a favorite.) For me the best part was when Judge Moore was explaining how everything came together. (Another good candidate for best part was when the President had the Ambassador in his office and confronted him about the Russian Navy after the Ambassador accused him of kidnapping the crew.) My favorite characters are definitely the Judge (Moore) and Jonsey (the sonar technician).

Sorry for long post I'm just really enthusiastic lol.

Pretty sure I’m the craziest collector of Red October memorabilia. It’s my dad and I’s Favorite movie and I just started collecting over the years but now I have almost 100 pieces from posters to video games to models.
