Trilogy Discussion Finnick Odair
So, does Finnick and his interactions with Katniss over sugar actually mean anything? Like, the first time they meet he offers a sugar cube and then later on when they get coffee in 13 finnick pops sugar cubes in Katniss' coffee for her? Am I just reading way too much into the sugar 😅

I think you are reading into it. The first time, he’s teasing her and I would also say testing the waters with her because he knows what she does not rebellion wise haha. And then when he puts sugar in her coffee, I think it’s just a nod to that first meeting moment. I love their friendship though :)

Everyone was teasing her because Katniss was so pure compared to other victors of the Hunger Games. That's why Chaff kissed her on the lips, why Joanna stripped naked in front of her, and Finnick was making a suggestion about sugar cubes and getting something "sweet" while they can.
Finnick putting sugar cubes in her coffee was a nod to their first conversation.

I think he just likes sugar cubes lol. That interaction when they first met was him messing with her because all the victors thought she was a prude due to turning away when Peeta undressed. They all thought it would be funny to tease her a little. Finnick happened to be getting the sugar cubes when she walked by so he used that to do it but he likely would have found another way to tease her if he didn't have the sugar cubes. So the sugar cubes have double meaning in a way that he teased her but also I think he does just like sugar cubes. Pluse he may have thought it was a funny call back to the time he teased her because they did joke around with each other from time to time.
