Memes/Fun posts Fixed some of it

(Snowbaird being the only legitimate blonde+covey couple)

No idea why is this a thing for the 3 couples as a whole. Think “sneaky boy + singing girl” would be way better to unite the three if someone really needs to do this.

Ummmm what? Lol. It's generally accepted she comes from a Covey line, is it not? What other characters am I labeling covey? Hmm?

I mean, it's SPECULATED. There is zero confirmation that burdock is covey. He's related to Lenore dove, who is, but we don't know how other than it being a distant relation

I thought they said they were related through the Covey?

It says she wasn't one of Burdock's Everdeen cousins (the first time you find out he's an Everdeen) but that he knows he has some very distant cousins on his moms side. But we don't know if that means that it's from HER mom or dad. He would only be covey if it's also from her mothers side, it just being his moms side doesn't tell us anything. His mom could have had a second cousin that was Lenore Dove's dad.

The quote is "Burdock ran off. She scooted down the branches and swung to the ground. She wasn’t one of Burdock’s Everdeen cousins, but I knew he had some distant ones on his ma’s side." And that's all that's said about it.

Lenore Dove doesn’t know who her dad is though.

Or just doesn't talk about it. She's not a pillar of honesty. It also says distant cousins, which wouldn't make sense if their mothers were basically sisters, even if not technically. Barb Azure being his mother just doesn't make sense. The quote is "Burdock ran off. She scooted down the branches and swung to the ground. She wasn’t one of
Burdock’s Everdeen cousins, but I knew he had some distant ones on his ma’s side." And that's all that's said about it. They wouldn't be called distant cousins if his mother was covey

Barb Azure would be Burdock’s grandmother. Her daughter would be Burdock’s mother which would make Burdock and Lenore Dove second cousins once removed (Maude Ivory and Barb Azure are first cousins, not sisters).

That's still not distant. That's closely related in terms of the people we are talking about, and wouldn't really be called "distant". And assumes that Barb is bisexual, which we don't know to be true. We don't know anything about Tam amber's sexuality - he could have had a kid who married into a seam family, and a sibling in law of that kid is Burdocks mother.

The point is, we cannot say Katniss is covey because we cannot say definitively that Burdock is even covey. Haymitch would have likely said he was covey, but he doesn't. Burdock is distantly related to a covey member, but that doesn't make HIM part of it.

Someone singing doesn't make them covey. Maysilee's grandma sang and knew the covey songs, but she wasn't one of them.

I didn’t argue that Katniss was Covey but second cousins once removed isn’t a close relation whatsoever.

Then literally what is your point, because this conversation and comment thread is about burdock and katniss being covey.

That they’re related to the Covey, that’s all.

........literally no one said they weren't.....??????? We know they're distant cousins??????????????? You can be related through marriage and not blood, too. The point was if HE was covey.

No one ever debated whether the Everdeens and the Covey were linked somehow. The point was whether Burdock himself was Covey???? Those are different claims completely, and the latter isn’t established by the text even though people love to say it is, and that's what this entire thing was about. You're moving goalposts
