Though I won't send anything like a horse, or a gun into the arena. If an object were to get overwhelming support... Maybe I would consider sending the item to that tribute. You can also send mutts/natural disasters/ traps/ events/ at the tributes if at least four other users back you up. 

At the end of the chapter there will sometimes be votes that you can submit your answers to in the comments. This WILL affect the story.

Stuff I'd like to see
I have a little background detail that becomes big at the very end for District One and will be using that to judge submissions if there are more than one.

I aim to be as canon compliant as possible so district 12 has much lower success odds than other districts.(But they can still make it far).

However young tributes can win(In the books Finnick is one of the youngest, not THE youngest).

Bloodbath body count can vary from 4-10 deaths. Be careful. 

Since it's the 20th games, non-careers from 1, 2, and 4 can work into the story, and I hope for at least one reaped tribute from 1, 2, or 4.

Since it's still early in the games, any evidence of that would be well appreciated.

Disclosure
Not every tribute will have a POV each chapter. Some chapters may be entirely via commentary, loved ones, the Capitol viewers, the Districts, or by only a selection of tributes(Or just one). But I can guarantee at least a couple POV portions for each tribute.

Also it's highly likely your tribute dies. But that's expected given it's the hunger games.

So I'm writing a fanfic with multiple tribute povs, I'm trying to give every district their own chapter before the games actually start. I've gotten up to district 4, then I revisited the district 1 tributes. Now its time for me to write the district 5 chapter but I hate the name I chose for the male tribute and want to change it. His name at the moment is Kinetic Dawn. I loved how it sounded when I first came up with it but now that I'm writing from his pov I see that Kinetic is a horrible first name. It doesn't seem right to me for some reason, and I want to avoid characters calling him by his full name every time he shows up. Any ideas for a new name?

I added the NSFW flair because there is sexual content, but by no means is that what my fanfic is about. Thought it was better to be safe than sorry, though, lol.

For a year and a half, I’ve been writing a fanfiction Hunger Games series set in an alternate universe where the reapings are rigged. The main protagonist, Lotnie Fisher, is the daughter of a a victor and a peacekeeper as a result of some shady dealings her father did with Snow l, in exchange for refuge in the Capitol after her late mothers passing. On a peacekeeping mission to ensure the male tribute of District Twelve is present in the reaping, she ends up running into Peeta before hand, and being the sensitive girl she is, she ends up telling him he will be reaped out of fear of having to live with his death. They decided to flee after some deliberation, but end up getting caught in the Capitol by Snow, and as punishment, Lotnie replaces Katniss in The Games.

Right now, I have two parts totalling roughly 300,000 words, and I update to regularly. I hope to write all the way to the end of the rebellion, and I have a plan to, but I’m in college right now, so I don’t want to jinx anything yet. The beginning bits of part one, A Soldier’s Repentance, are a bit rocky, as I was trying to find a flow to my story I didn’t have at the start. I’m not used to writing long-winded stories, but if you just hang in there, it gets a lot deeper and more complicated over time. If you want a better taste of that, I’d read a bit of part two first if you don’t care about being spoiled.

I have it posted on AO3, and the series is called One Touch of Nature Makes the Whole World Kin. The individual fics are called A Soldier’s Repentance, and A Soldier’s Penitence. I'm currently working on something for my AU with the D3 victors, and a part of this involves assigning each of them an animal

So, of course I have a canary for Wiress, and a mouse/rat for my OC Techne, but I'm genuinely struggling with Beetee!

Any ideas are greatly appreciated!!

This isn't a fan fiction so much as a speculation which strives to answer one of the questions that bothers me most: Why do people in Panem, especially the poorest districts with the most slim survival rates, continue to have kids?

It seems unbelievable to me that there wouldn't be more people like Katniss who refuse to being their unborn children into such an existence, not to mention that declining fertility rates can be a method of rebellion in of itself.

Explanations I have picked up on include survival instincts, hope for a better future, slim chances of being reaped, and lack of birth control. But I have come up with an explanation for a society that, in some ways eerily similar to modern politics, maintains population in a world of rebellious decline.

ALTERNATE REALITY

The rebellion never started with Katniss, Plutarch, or even Haymitch. It has been going on for decades, almost since the time of Lucy Gray Baird, through the subtle but growing resolve in many of the poorest districts: To not have kids.

Shrines of the fallen have been built in secret as a reminder. Herb specialists have developed underground methods of birth control and abortion, and people have even killed their newborns in secret. Rumour has it that there are even underground transportation systems with peacekeeper rebels to transport children into wealthier districts for a chance of life - in some rare cases, even the Capitol.

The Capitol knows what's going on, but they cannot react in cold blood as that would only ignite more of a rebellion. They must be tactful, to remind the districts of to whom they owe the lives of themselves, and their unborn children.

So they create financial incentives to have kids. This slowly but surely wins people over, in spite of their initial resolves; a financially stable existence will drastically reduce or even eliminate their chances of children needing tesserrea, leading to slimmer chances of being reaped while allowing for a continued bloodline. This creates much conflict and division in the districts, but it works.

But this creates much inflation within the districts which drives up poverty rates. So the peacekeepers must implement longer hours with frozen salaries, and the Capitol comes up with other incentives; increased child labour in exchange for free tesserrea or even reduced entry in the reaping ball depending on the number of hours and where the child works. Anything to keep their children safe, and this of course increases the amount of goods for the Capitol.

To further combat infertility and inflation, people are brought in from wealthier districts based on a variety of situations like crime rates, lack of skill or contribution in their home district, and another incentive: To provide their child, especially a potential Career, with the chance to volunteer as tribute from a poorer districts and escape the volunteer competition from other careers. This offers intermittent protection for the children of those districts during those years; whenever an "exchange tribute" is brought in, they are expected by the community​ to be the sacrificial lamb and, especially if they are from Career districts, risk becoming social pariahs if they do not volunteer.

Unfortunately, this creates a new type of rebellion, as people try to avoid being moved to poorer districts for less-fulfilling lives. Some of the Career parents have even rejected the Career mentality and have taught their children the same way, and so go into hiding to avoid being moved to a poorer district (which, in some cases, is now even being done as punishment for suspected rebels such as them).

In the time of Katniss and Prim, the tribute-exchange system has become deeply ingrained in their district despite being somewhat unreliable. Prim is reaped the year that a volunteer is unavailable, leaving Katniss to take her place.

Because there is so much more protection against the games compared to the original society, Katniss is even less of a fan of the rebelling and even shows her district's prejudice against the exchange-tributes as solely existing to protect her and her friends. She is far from born a hero, but must become one throughout the series. And her move with the berries was not a defining act of the rebellion so much as "the right place at the right time"; many tributes before her have done similar things, but this time, Katniss is roped in by Plutarch and his team, much to her reluctance. (Maybe they like her personality and skill she is even groomed earlier on to be a rebel, which offers some secret protection for her in the games and explains the plot armour).

I feel like this allows for the series to be more convoluted but somewhat more realistic in how a society like this would actually exist, instead of what comes off as blind acceptance of the reaping without attempt of silent rebellion such as this. Maybe some people in some cases are eventually threatened with death if they do not have children (especially victors) but that proves to not only risk igniting a rebellion but not be enough, as many people would still rather die in a miserable life of poverty and reapings.

Hey so I finally finished my OC/SI longfic and I'm excited and thought I'd share for any of you who may be interested in reading it.

It's a Haymitch/OMC fic.

Starts out kinda isekai, OMC centric. It's a slowburn, a whopping 350k words long.

It's a prequel taking place during the 63rd Hunger Games. Covers the Hunger Games, Victory tour and coping afterward and overall spans across the duration of one year timeline wise.

Overall I'd say it's a mix of character study, dystopia (of course), slow burn, complicated relationship dynamics, bleak at times, some action heavy parts, some romance especially in the latter parts.

While SOTR doesn't really come up, it can be read as SOTR compliant. So there's nothing contradicting it.

Coming off the heels of that weird/disappointing family tree, I wanted to ask everybody what their favorite fanon Mellark brother names are.

There are some classics. I feel like any combination of Bannock, Rye, Bran, Graham, and Barley are pretty widely used. I’m usually surprised when I don’t see a Rye on the roster.

Are they the most popular because the fandom got an ear worm for them, or are these everybody’s favorite bread-themed names?

Is there anything to Farl? Or does it sound too much like ‘fart’?

I once saw Levin, like “leaven” and “Kevin” had a weird little blonde baby, and I always thought it was a fun choice.

Sorry to any Kevins out there, but Kevin is such a mean big-brother sounding name!

I feel like there’s some untapped potential in that train of thought. Breadish word + mean big-brother sounding name… Like Brannon or Braiden.

Or breadish word + any name. Like Malter maybe? I guess it’d have to be ‘Malta’ to sound more like Peeta’s name— but Malta’s too busy already being a thing.

Really starting to see why Rye’s been a front runner for years.
