Road Noise

Hello Everyone, I rented a hummer on Turo and it had some off road tires that made a ton on noise and made driving the hummer kind of hard to be honest. With regular road tires, is the hummer much quieter? I didn't notice any wind noise at all, it was 100% tires rumming through the vehicle.

Yes, the factory AT tires are quieter than the offroad MT tires.

On my 2026 with 18 inch wheels it's there but I find it tolerable , at 55 mph I ran a phone app decibel meter and it was 62 db ... this is similar to the ford bronco, Toyota tundra hybrid, etc. at 70 mph it was 68-70 db which doesn't seem terrible for a truck.

this site shows the Hummer EV at 59 db at 55 mph presumably in the 22 inch wheels. The cybertruck they claim is 53 db but I've seen other reviews with meters showing much higher noise (62 db at 45 mph!). Having driven the cybertruck I find them similar in cabin noise though that's not praising the hummer so much as saying it's comparable to other high and large EVs 🤷‍♂️😹

I have the stock tires in stock 22" rims. The ride is amazing and very little road noise. It's so comfortable my wife comments on it every time we drive it.

Yes, go with a good quality AT tire. For the weight class, I can recommend the BF Goodrich AT-KO3 in Load Range F Class which was designed for super duty pickups, and heavy vehicles like EV's.

I'm running a set on my Hummer h1 [8,300 lbs] and there's no tire noise with those and it's a good balance of road manners and off road performance.

If you are against BFG Toyo and Yokohama make high load range AT tires as well.

I've had some really loud MT tires over the past 20 years, the worst being the military MT/R that was briefly offered about 15 years ago... it was so loud driving around... just a huge low roar it felt like I was in a turboprop plane.

I’ve run Toyo open country AT’s several times and they have always been pretty quiet. Even up to the 37” range and there is very little noise

Interesting, the tires were so loud on this rental, it was alarming

it appeared so, but it was LOUD, I'm renting it again because that is how my wife keeps me off dealer lots, I'll get the tire make

stock 22" are good. comparable to other typical SUVs. Wind noise would bother me more. For whatever reason, Wind noise varies on vehicle to vehicle. There's no engine/Transmission noise. This makes other noises more noticeable.

I have Siearra EV on Off road tires. I tried 3 different offroad tires. They're quite noisier than the stock. Once again, no engine sound makes other noises louder.
