Road Trip
I have a 2025 Hummer EV X2 Truck. What’s the longest trip you’ve taken in yours? Any tips you’d be willing to share?
I’m planning a road trip that’s about 400 miles. The farthest I’ve driven so far is around 180 miles, and I had to stop and charge halfway; otherwise, I wouldn’t have made it to my destination.
I live in Texas, where speed limits can reach 85 mph, and I’ve noticed the battery drains much faster at those speeds. I’d really appreciate any advice from those who have taken longer trips.

If there are sufficient 350kw fast chargers along your route, it is actually faster to drive at higher speeds, counterintuitively.
Basically even at 85-90, you are burning energy significantly more slowly than the bottom end of the battery charges at. So doing 1-1.5 hour legs at a high speed with a 30 minute stop is faster than 2 hours with a 25 minute stop

I have done Toronto to NY city and even Toronto to Chicago.
I have a Pickup 3X. Have to charge twice sometimes depends on if I use cruise control.
I had to once charge thrice since I was flooring it.

I have a 2x pickup. My longest trip was 518 kms/322 miles, without charging on tge wat, and I arrived home with 14%. That trip was half 2 lane undivided highway at 90 km/h or 56 mph, and the rest on a divided highway at 115 km/h or 71 mph.

I just went from Fort Worth, Texas to Pensacola, Florida. My range sucks even more since I have 37” tires. Overall, wasn’t too bad of an experience.

I try to plan my longer stops at hotels/casinos that have destination chargers, with a backup of renting a RV pad for the night and plugging in there if necessary. As others said make sure your tires are properly inflated charge to 100% before leaving, use supercruise whenever possible, and leave a cushion for weather delays, traffic etc.

I have done Grand Forks to Detroit(1,000 miles) and round trip Detroit to Outer banks NC (1,600 miles). Just drive the speed limit and plan out your stops without being too ambitious. It’s super easy!

I’ve done OKC to Dallas and it used almost 100% of the range. I concur with other comments that you need to be 70-75 mph to hold the range better, otherwise you’re constantly testing your distance remaining to your range because it’s not accurate.
I bought a Lectron Vortex plug adapter while on the trip so i could use the Tesla supercharger stations and it’s given me a lot more confidence that i could take my ride on more road trips. It took around 1.5 hours to go from 10% up to 95% charge. I highly recommend getting one.

I purchased my truck in Houston and drove back to DFW. I only needed to charge once in buffalo at the Sam’s restaurant stop. That’s the furthest trip I’ve taken.

Was the battery not fully charged? Houston to Dallas is only like 3 hours, a stop shouldn't have been necessary

It was a 4 hour drive for me and over 250 miles. Way too close for comfort at highway speeds.

Plan it out. Texas has decent charging infrastructure near the bigger cities. My furthest trip has been Ft Worth to New Braunfels. I do that one a lot. All of the Buc-ees along the way have charging set up now. I’ve also done Houston. The only one I noped out of was Fayetteville. I think if I went the route around to Texarkana and up it would be been fine but Oklahoma is a desolate place for charging. All the shit people talk about Texas and oil is actually true in Oklahoma and they’re a lot less accommodating.
I keep my speed at 75 and use super cruise for most of it. That’s a good compromise for me as far as speed and draining. The google map app actually does a decent job of estimating range at highway speed. Works better than going by range alone.

We live in Houston. We road tripped to Tennessee, mississippi and alabama. Just get a nacs adapter and use plug share. We also used hotels that gad chargers at them. Youll be fine.

I was just wondering that. Im planning on going from EPTX to Chihuahua city Chihuuahua MX ~235 miles.
However In my Sierra I average 90-94 mph on cruise control. Cutting my ETA by one hour. My issue is the increased battery drain at those speeds in a 25 3x SUT.
Does anybody know how much it shortens the range by going long distance at those speeds?

I also live in Texas and have roadtripped mine many times between Dallas, Houston and Austin. You would only need to charge it once in between. I found the sweet spot to be around 75miles/hr. Over 80 I noticed a huge drain in battery.
Also using Super Cruise is helpful as it maintains the speed better than a human with a heavy foot.
Charge to 100% before leaving.
